New maps + mode DLC for L4D

Maybe like Horde in GoW or Invasion in UT2004, where you just have to survive in an arena-styled map. I hope so, that would be pretty fun.

Any word if the PC DLC is free or not?

From the article:

No details regarding platform availability or pricing were announced, but Valve traditionally updates its games for free.

It will most likely be free for PC, as they similarly release free updates for TF2.

I hate when language changes to incorporate pointless euphemisms. Just call it an update, downloadable content sounds pretentious and has far too many letters and syllables.

Well then, they can shove it. L4D already is an overpriced piece of crap. I regret ever buying it. If they had any decency in them they would release this for free, like the TF2 updates, because, like, the game is bloody SHORT!

Someones bitter

I rather hear from Official than something so call "EMAIL" respond....

and plus, if they ever charge for it, why cant we import those maps in :D

like what CS Does, not that hard to copy and paste :p

and please read it closely...

its NOT 2 CO-OP Campaign..

its DEATH TOLL and DEAD AIR for VERSUS!!1

So this is impossible for them to charge it.....

My guess is there going to be releasing CROSSROADS MALL and RACOON CITY woooootttt! hellz yeah. thank you modders and valve.:D

Nah, just cheap people who whine about every little cost in life. Welcome to the new world of gaming, pay to play or go read a book.

Oh I'm sorry. So I'm "cheap" if I don't like to WASTE money? I'm "cheap" if I don't swim around in money? I'm "cheap" if I dislike the new business strategy of releasing crappy unfinished games and then charging for content that should already be in the game in the first place?

Yeah, I guess I'm "cheap" then.

i dont think there are any new levels. its just the death toll and dead air campaigns being playable in versus mode

and i highly highly doubt they will charge for this. atleast for PC.

you need to stop trolling....

the only thing that isnt sure is 360 version, that doesnt seem to be free....

due to 8 MB limit...

Nice to see them doing so this quickly. Really a perfect game to mess around in with friends and I'm glad they're adding more content so quickly.

Didn't they promise L4D will have free downloadable contents when the game releases? And they kept their promise pretty well.

Source?

This is what I read

Valve's Zombie Thriller Expanding In 2009

February 5, 2008 — Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced a series of content and development releases for its latest title, 2008's best-selling new game property for the PC and Xbox 360, Left 4 Dead (L4D).

The first L4D DLC — dubbed the L4D Survival Pack -- is due for release this spring and introduces a new multiplayer game mode entitled, Survival, plus two complete campaigns for Versus Mode . A Critic's Choice Edition of the game will be heading to retail stores this spring, and will include access to all the content introduced in the L4D: Survival Pack.

In addition, for PC gamers and aspiring developers, the first Left 4 Dead release for the Source Software Development Kit (Source SDK) will allow the creation of custom Left 4 Dead campaigns that will be discoverable via L4D's matchmaking system. The SDK update is also due for release this spring, and is free of charge to all owners of L4D on the PC.

"Since Half-Life launched in 1998, Valve has made continuous efforts to expand the offering of its products beyond what's included on the day of launch," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "With Half-Life and Counter-Strike, and more recently Team Fortress 2, we've learned that we're no longer making stand-alone games but creating entertainment services. With Left 4 Dead we're extending that tradition by creating additional gameplay and releasing our internal tools to aspiring developers so they may also create and distribute new Left 4 Dead experiences."

Left 4 Dead is a survival action game from Valve that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic, narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games. Released in November of 2008, L4D has earned over 25 industry awards from outlets around the world.
