New Macbook vs Old Macbook Pro

Also how do you think these would handle Oblivion at 1680x1250?
1680 x 1050 you mean? Also I'm guessing you will be using an external monitor, since the MBP has a resolution of 1440 x 900 IIRC and the new MB is 1280 x 800.
The 8600m GT should be faster than the 9400m. Plus, the MBP has more connectivity options while being cheaper. MBP all the way.

Look at the 2nd post in that thread. 9400m is 55% of the 8600m GT. So yes, I would think that the older MBP would be superior.
EDIT: the older MBP still has some more pixels to push and slightly slower DDR2 vs MB's DDR3, but it should still offer better performance.

I would go with the standard Macbook. I think it's much more durable and stable.(Unibody). Also why go with *older* tech with DD2? Stick with DD3. You won't regret it. Plus there's a BIG weight difference between 13.3 inches and 15.4. If you dont use Firewire, or the express card slot for the standard Macbook.
Ok thanks 450.....Sandman, For me it looks like the older MacBook Pro makes more sense because I mostly care about graphics performance, weight doesn't really bother me much. Also there insn't really a noticeable difference in DDR2/DDR3...Just my thoughts.

DDR2 is far cheaper to upgrade to 4GB. Only like $50-60 at most. So I'd get the MBP and get 4GB of RAM and be set. DDR2 doesn't make everything very slow, DDR3 is just in the new MB since the integrated 9400m needs it.
