Haha, figures. Was just looking for a replacement for my now dead G15 Rev1 and ended up buying a Mechanical Keyboard.
me too. I really liked the g19, but I couldn't justify the price, and honestly, I don't think that the lcd would really be that useful. This looks like a win! I wonder how the keys will feel?
You can preorder it from Logitech. Mechanical? We are talking about keyboards for gaming not data entry. lol There are some great ones out there, but none of them have the features of a complete gaming keyboard.
Mechanical keyboards are the best. I have the original G15 and I later acquired a mechanical keyboard, I plug it in to test it and never went back. Sure, I don't like not having a volume control or even a windows key, but just the feel is worth it. BTW, mechanical and it's a gaming keyboard. http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1678/gigabyte_gk_k8000_ghost_gaming_keyboard/index2.html
I couldn't find the Gigabyte Ghost board for sale anywhere but NCIX Canada when it was first reviewed by TweakTown. Haven't heard about it since! I don't like the SteelSeries 7G.
i had a g15 and didn't like it either, doesn't mean mechanical boards are better people like the g15 for the macros, not the feel of the board.
I am looking at replacing my 4ish year old Saitek Eclipse. Several of the keys have and are rubbing off , granted it is 4years old. I was looking at the Logitech G15 or G19, but with their high price and the news about the G110 coming out in late November, I think I can wait one more month. I want to pre-order it but, they may push it back, so I'm waiting until it hits the stores. It's a must buy for me.
Speak for yourself, I never use the macros and LOVE the feel of my G15 v1. I am the fastest at typing on it out of all my keyboards...although I am pretty quick on my T61 keyboard as well. Frankly I love the G15 feel for some reason, the keys just work well for the way I type. I dont really like mechanical keyboards...not my type. I do like many of the MS keyboards for feel as well.
Any pictures of the G110 with it's palm rest? The palm rest is practically as important as the rest of the keyboard for me.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B002RRLQIO/ref=nosim/7240428-20 Should help... I'm sorta interested... I like the DAS a lot, just wish I had some dedicated media keys and such...
Meh, if it's like to G15 I'm not going to purchase it because I don't really like the feel of it. I really like my SGI keyboard but it doesn't have windows or media keys and that's a deal breaker. I really like that Gigabyte but I can't find it anywhere.
I'd like to see a new G19 with the US audio features of this keyboard enabled (G20? G21?). That's really useful stuff.
I agree. After a ton of research, I just ordered the Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless Tactile Touch with Full NKRO... type all the keys you want at once, it will hear you! Uses Cherry Brown MX keyswitches, tactile but non clicky. http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=filco_keyboards,majestouch_87key&pid=fkbn87meb ...should be great for gaming and typing.
I love my G15v2 and like this, but will miss the LCD on the G15v2. The G19 is WAY too expensive compared to the G15 so that means I won't be upgrading to that or this, oh well. Logitech priced their high end keyboard way out of reach for prior G-series owners, and then took away the one feature of that keyboard when trying to bring it down in price.. I would have liked to see the old style screen instead of that stupid color crap.
It looks pretty good and the price is decent. I might have to end up ordering one to get some backlit keys. my Microsoft curve is no good for night time gaming...
Good choice. I went with the Linear (Cherry Blacks). Kind of wondering how the Browns would have been for FPS especially.
I like it so far, will take a little adjusting from the old, but hats ok. One thing, the wrist rest seems like a bit of an afterthought, doesn't really fit correctly
Yea, I like it. It's very similar to the G15 v2. Some of the larger keys are a bit loud. I like quiet keys. I just popped them off and add some Petroleum Jelly to the metal supports and it quiets them down. I cannot get the volume or multimedia keys to work properly. Anyone else had this happen?
I wanted to get Blacks for gaming/night typing and Blues for typing typing, but I decided I don't want to keep switching my keyboard around my desk, so I went with the Browns. Browns are near linear with a slight tactile bump (gamers like linear, typists like tactile switches), while the Blues offer too much tactile feel for gaming, and the Blacks suck at typing. So in theory the Browns are good for both tasks, unlike the other two (so I gathered from lots of reading), Only thing I read about the Browns is that they are very light keyswitches, the lightest of all three, so you can't rest your paws as easy as on the Blacks, or you might get a button pressed. But I don't have to play musical keyboards to type comfortably =)
ok, i just installed my G110 keyboard are here are my initial thoughts - the regular keys sit a bit lower than usual keyboard the G keys and F keys sit at a normal height and the rest of the keys sit a bit lower, and the keys themselves are a bit smaller than on any other keyboard i've used - i love that it can turn my regular headset with 3.5mm jacks into a USB device - the lights could be a bit brighter, they seem very dim compared to my bright saitek lights, only 2 settings for brightness, on or off - these keys are a bit quiet at the moment but i assume that's because they're new - first time i've ever used a wrist rest on a keyboard as well, don't know if i'll keep using it though just noticed instead of the usual num lock, caps lock, scroll lock light order they go caps lock, scroll lock, num lock from left to right
Great photo I think they did it like that so we can tell the difference in keys with out looking at them. Shorter keys equals less travel and faster response, seen any difference?
I haven't really, but I assume that's because I use a key with similar low profile keys at work, but it does feel kind of nice
i haven't tested the media keys yet, but i've had no problems with the mute and volume knob in win 7 x64
