Alright, Its time for me to get a new laptop. I'm selling the one in my sig cause it's too heavy and big to take to school with me so I need something light and portable.
I've found this hp laptop and it's right in my price range and the specs look perfect for me.
With this laptop, I'd be doing word, Internet, some HD video connected to a 42in via hdmi and some light video editing with windows movie maker.

The laptops are the same thing except processors. I know a great deal about core2duos and intels new line of processors but nothing about AMD and intels low voltage CPUs

Laptops are:

and

I will be picking up the laptops from the store due to the discounts I'll get.
Now which one would you guys prefer? Intel or amd?
Remember I will be watching HD videos via hdmi on a 42in so I need the CPU to handle it. Thanks

Actually, I would be more concerned with the graphics chip. I read the 4500HD has relatively high CPU utilization during playback. I'm not sure how much more, if any, over a fellow integrated solution like the HD 3200.

Modern CPUs - even ULV type ones should be fast enough to handle basic tasks smoothly.

For less money I would certainly go with the AMD version for less money, the HD3200 would perform a bit better for games and the slightly slower AMD cpu probably wouldn't be noticeably slower.

I hope you realize the CPUs in the two notebooks (they look more like netbooks to me) are a magnitude of times less powerful than the 2~ GHz Core 2 Duo your current laptop has.
