Yeah that suggest a lens problem.

But, new plot twist!! :) The Voodoo guy that you linked to has put up a new video. His Vive 2 Pro is already broken. So, you can take this two ways, either HTC quality control is terrible and Vive 2 Pro headsets are going to be plagues with issues going forward. Or that his Vive 2 Pro was faulty when he got it and his review is flawed because of that.

Yeah I just saw it. 🤣 It is possible his piece was flawed from day 1 but might be even more worrying because who knows what the QC is going to be. Hell, his was a free "press release" version which I would think are hand picked to give the best impression and therefore get the best review possible.

MRTV's review, a much more favorable. Lenses are still bad but FOV is much more promising. I wonder if VoodooDE rushed his review out. 🤔

Or it's a quality control issue and the user experience is going to vary depending on how good/bad the hardware is. Remember Legion.de are cancelling their pre-orders after trying the headset.

Seems to be a fair review of the hardware, makes me want to pre-order this more. The higher resolution may make other options for doing work inside of VR on the desktop. May have to move the 3090 back into the Tread Ripper system, wonder how AMD stacks up with these higher resolution headsets. Anyways the Vive Pro was a fairly fantastic high quality headset which made most other headsets to me look cheap and toy like in quality. So not seeing that change is a plus. Would be nice to see a hardware as in GPU/CPU combinations and other software besides games tested with this headset, at least GPUs and CPUs. Definitely missed Kyle reviews that addressed this fairly well.

Funny, the first German guy says it's terrible and the MRTV guy says it's great.

It's very game engine dependent, but if you plan to do anything other than games that you know AMD is good at, I'd use the 3090. Check babeltechreviews as they do really good VR comparisons, and I will say AMD is a lot closer than it was in the Vega/Polaris days, Nvidia edges on engine optimizations and wider proliferation of things like single pass stereo that helps both GPU and cpu, especially in draw call limited (ie dx11) games. If you're going to be pushing hard on resolution and super sampling, Nvidia is the safer bet.

Will just have to try both out, the 6900 XT is terrible in MS Flight Simulator with the Vive Pro, will have to fool around with it more. Most other stuff it is flawless.

The Vive Pro 2 has been released and their are more reviews and user opinions out there.

Here is Tested's review.

Tested is one of the better VR reviewers.

The user experience is a mixed bag. Some people say it's terrible, some say it's ok, some say it's the best thing ever. Some people returning theirs.

However, there are also a lot of reports of problems with the headset, everything from the strap(not tightening) to the headphones(buzzing noise) to the display(lines at bottom of the screen) The most worrying thing is the high number of failures after just a few days. The Reviewer whose Vive Pro 2 failed doesn't seem to be an isolated incident.

If you do a have problem with your Vive Pro 2, well, you will have to send the headset back to them and wait for them to repair it. At least for the moment, they aren't replacing broken headsets with new ones. So you could be without a headset for weeks.

With the excitement of new hardware and the high specs the headset had, I was very tempted to buy one. But, I think I am going to sit this one out and wait and see what DecaGear release later in the year.

Well I am glad I waited to see if the dust settles. Any links to these issues?

I decided to return to sender. Too many negatives.

Did you try it out or did you return it unopened?

How good the headset is seems to depend entirely on your face/head shape. It seems the closer you can your eyes to the lenses the better it is. Not just talking about an improvement in FOV, but, the glare and god rays are reduced as well.

On the plus side, if the Headset does fit your properly, the wireless adapter works great. There is an update coming that will allow a higher resolution over wireless and there is talk of a complete new adapter that will run at the full resolution of the headset. No official word on that yet.

Returned unopened. It was kinda a spur of the moment purchase, but realized the performance didn't match the paper specs and I don't use VR that often anymore.

Wow guys!! lol, having ordered one I would have at least given it a go to see if it was any good. And you never know you might have loved it and given you both a renewed interest in VR.
