For those interested in pre-built WHS systems, HP is releasing new versions of their MediaSmart servers.

"The HP MediaSmart Server ex485 with 750 Gbytes of hard disk storage is $599, while the HP MediaSmart Server ex487 with 1.5 terabytes of storage inside it will be priced at $749. Both can be preordered on Jan. 5 from etailers including Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Buy.com, Frys.com and Newegg.com, and will be shipped in February, HP said."

"Finally, HP said the first 200 consumers who visit HP Home & Home Office or call (888) 271-2982 between Jan. 5 and Jan. 11, 2009, to reserve a MediaSmart Server, and use coupon code "AC5674", will receive $50 off."
 
I wonder if this will be two 750's or a single 1.5.
 
Not sure. With the questionability of the 1.5TB Seagate's (whether warranted or not), I would lean toward 2 750's. Especially in a set-and-forget product.
 
Any word on when this will be shipping? Or just pre-order dates?

Has anybody seen any of the new HP WHS's in stores?

I'm in Canada and I've been looking around and they aren't even on the HP.ca website yet..
