New four bangers unavailable?

Someday I'll get my 3300X... Ordered on 5/18 from B&H, initial ship date was 6/4, then 6/8, then 6/16, then 6/24, then 7/16, then... no date is showing now. Someday, probably a week before Ryzen 3 launches. Amazon has it in stock for $225, lol.

You were probably better off getting a 3600 and enjoying it for the past few months.

Lol! Four Banger never heard that term describing a CPU before, only cars (or other vehicle) with a four cylinder engine.

People are still pulling BS like this:

Yes the high demand is because of idiots like this who try to sell them at a high markup for their own monetary gain. I hate those shameless scalpers

People have to be buying off them, otherwise it wouldn't be a thing.

A lot of it has to do with all the hype when it was released- greatest gaming bang for the buck CPU shouted every tech web site and YouTube reviewer. Even when it was out of stock reviewers were using it to compare to other CPUs. Mine is out for delivery today

Sam

Who would buy it at a price higher then a 3600 tho... which is available.

There are people with Best Buy, Newegg, Microcenter physically close to them that buy into some narrative that all is lost and nothing is on the shelves.

I built a box for my friends kids that held the bare shelves belief. I literally drove around for a couple hours picking up brand new parts curbside. I forwarded the invoices to him, brought the box to his house, and told the kid not to fail that summer school class.

I only did it bc his dad was going to give up and let the kid slide in school. It was a more positive act than screaming at my buddy bc that wasn't going to move belief.

I've also run into people that treat pandemic $ like a piggy bank. 20 something's living at home that need to mentally grow up. Built a box for my friends 26yo son. I marched him around do he could spent $1200. I had to force him to not take the scalping path by ordering everything to be Prime dropped at his mom's front door.

Yeah, price still crazy... after building my sons 3700x... AMD decided to include AC: Valhalla with the 3700x (of course that wasn't the case 2 weeks ago when I bought my sons)... so I bought another one for myself ;). $260 - $60 free game I was going to buy anyways. So, $200 for a 3700x vs $180+ for a 3300x... real hard decision.

Look at people buying a 3800xt over a 3900x, even though you can get a 3900x cheaper in some cases. Sometimes it's just a lack of knowledge, other times it might be some weird enthusiasm for one particular part. I understand getting the lower end part due to power constraints (either psu or bad mobo vrm) or cooling limitations (very small form-factor PC). Any other reason for going 3300x over 3600 at the same price point just seems like novelty.

I'd go with these:
3700x @$260 retail
3600 @$175 retail

....and forget BS like

Unless I was budget constrained so tight $70 was the diff btw decent psu or a better peforning gpu than a 1650 than I'd go 1600af @$105.

Just bc the 3300x is the new hype doesn't mean there aren't viable options if you have to finish a build tonight.

I ordered mine at Amazon on Launch for $120, and got it a week ago. It's replacing a 1600x in our HTPC, and I've been thinking of instead repAttach fileslacing my wife's 2600 with it.

I would think if you into computers enough that you can build them yourself you would have enough intelligents to price comparison. Hell I would still strongly consider the 3600 even if the 3300x was $20 cheaper.

If I can find a 3600 for $140 I'll be cancelling my 3300X. The 3600 is down to $160 now and I've got a couple price trackers going. I don't need a 3600 and it'd be a waste but it'd be a fun chip to have. I'd take a 4300G or 4300GE as well if they were available.

If you have an MC near you, and you need a motherboard, it's $155-$20 off a board = $135...

I wish I had a MC near me, Best Buy is the closest that I've got within 100 miles. I snagged a B450 Tomahawk Max, 16GB 3600 and a GT 710 when I placed the order for the 3300X (5/18). I had considered going 3400G initially but the 3300X info was out when I was looking to upgrade so for an extra $40 for a GPU over the 3400G I figured I'd go 7nm. My old i3-2105 will have to keep chugging along for a little bit longer it seems. I think what equally annoys me with the availability delay is that I've been sitting on a board that I haven't tested for a couple months.

I'd justify a 3600 over a 3300x as "2021 proofing".
I've seen more used 3600 and 3700x in my area as people decide 3900x is too good to pass up at post XT prices.

When I was looking at an upgrade for my 4770k, I think the 3700x was $269 and the the 3900x at $369....

I couldn't pass up that 3900x....

I hear you, I'll be using it to run a file/media server so all it really has to do is be on which is why I was looking at low cost solutions. Honestly the 4300G is much more appealing to me right now as I wouldn't need a gpu and would still get 7nm. Seriously though at the rate I'm going the 4300G might get released before the 3300X is available, lol. I 100% agree on grabbing a 3900X over a 3900XT, look at the price to performance difference! $80 for barely measurable performance increase? Nope, if I were building a new main system I'd put that $80 towards a better gpu, more storage, better cooling or in my pocket.

Pretty much the same here, I went from a 2600K to a 3900X and haven't looked back, fantastic chip, even at $500.

I was interested in the 3300x @ $120... at $150 it's a hell no. @ $200 is a... WTF???

$160 is a bnib 3600
$240 is a used 3700x

I'm starting to think the tight $ tiering on 4c thru 6c Zen2 is a good thing when faced with disrupted stock and predatory flippers.

It's not a large enough gap where you'd have to go 2070 instead of a 2080, or 1650 instead of a 2060.

$240?? They are only $260 bnib with a free $60 game... Who's still paying $240 used?

I have a 3600 and 3700x .. to me the 3700x is smother in gaming and that's taking noting away from the 3600 as it a great chip all others are judged by.

That doesn't make it the norm or a good idea in general ;). But yeah, people overpay for stuff often enough.

I'm genuinely disgusted by it all.

I don't know what your area is like, but I've got guys actually branding their BS. This is a 2gb 1050, he's signing his posts.

A lot of people don't seem to have much google-fu so posts like this on CL are rampant.

I live in the middle of nowhere, I don't see many PC parts listed and Craigslist has gone to shit. All I ever see on there are dealers and scammers, I can't even look through it for real things anymore. Of course, Facebook marketplace isn't much better and even places 20 miles away are incorrectly listed as outside my area when I put an 80 mile radius... So it's really hard to find things on there as half the stuff they show me is not local and local things are displayed in a mixed list of things that aren't. At least most things I have been able to find were somewhat reasonable but that may also be b cause I completely ignore stupid stuff like that. Prices go up when supply is limited, but sometimes people.are.just looking for a sucker to offload their crap to at a premium.

I just sold one my 3600 rigs without trying really as my draughts boy friend bough it and I let him have it really about half price of the parts just to let someone else enjoy it .
So the AIO 3600/ RX5700 is gone , but I have a B550 board coming for my other 3600 and the fun begins again .

When it comes down to B&H, I only buy when it's in stock. Other than cameras, they are always late to the party.
Your statement appears to be true :p. Approaching 5 months since I placed my 3300X order... At this point I'm considering cancelling and trying for a Zen3 chip, now that B450 boards will work with them.

I so want a fast Quad CPU with lots of cache.
That type of design offers the lowest latency as well as fastest recovery from IPC leakage. (Misses)

AMD seems to be addressing the 3000’s which crapped out @ 80% especially 12/16 core designs by redesigning CCX and a unified cache. That’s exciting, but also late to the race but equally exciting is the Tiger Lake.
I really want a Cezanne quad w/ APU or desktop Quad Tiger Lake.

Sure love the competition.
My i7’s and 3700X are really good but AMD and Intel got some hot chips heading our way.

I’ll take one of each in a Quad.

I saw that shopblt has thousands enroute for 121 ea but they're overdue it seems.
