Countdown for new Duke Nukem game ends September 2
Didn't the last Duke Nukem game get announced a billion years before it was released? Then when it was released, it was complete garbage?
Yup. I'm not holding my breath for this one.
If the team that's behind it isn't given the freedom to blow off deadlines I don't see why they can't pull this off.
That said, the entire allure of DN is tied to a bygone era. Action hero wisecracks and 80's movie references don't really cut it these days. As a game, nearly everything DN ever did well has been copied or bested hundreds of times. Unless they have something crazy up their sleeve (anything is possible), this could be a hard sell.
Duke Nukem Forever. It was a clusterfuck if I'm thinking of the right game.
lmao hope it's not this.
Gearbox can't seem to make a game better than Borderlands. I'll be surprised if this is any good.
They already did, Brothers in Arms series.
The 2016 version of this?
Your opinion. I would say the reverse is true.
I, for one, would love to see a remake of Duke Nukem 3D. That was a great game, and if nothing else would probably serve to remind the developers what a Duke game is supposed to be like.
"Hail to the King" is the title?
Sounds more like a pr0n production...
Hopefully it is Duke Nukem Reloaded!
As long as it's done in time to watch Oprah.
It's obviously a just countdown to the 20th anniversary, and the only thing "coming soon" is the anniversary itself
It has some fun moments but it's mediocre at best. The DLC is slightly better but mostly forgettable.
Last time I played Duke Nukem, it was on the Amiga!
I thought the game play in DNF was fun. If they updated all the textures and models I think it would have been a good game.
There's an old expression about this stuff, it's too late to "quit while they're ahead" or "go out on top" so:
"Quit it, this is pathetic, you're only making things worse."
Fits the situation far better.
The Apogee site has been down for maintenance for a very long time now. Don't think this is related though
(side note: saw this on a fan site:
sean.ahern – Duke Nukem
Hello world! )
but anyways - the first Duke Nukem game came out July 1st, 1991... so it must be the 20th of Duke 3D since that came out in '96. No, that was Jan 29th, 1996. So. uh. what?
Lol... 20th anniversary of what?
Love Duke though. well. old Duke maybe - only played the Demo of Forever
The game we got as DNF was never the finished product. It was hashed together in a couple months because the jokes got just too strong and plentiful. They've been working on the real Duke game for all these years now. Duke Nukem: The MMO: All Outta Gum. Graphics tech is finally where they want it, so they've occuled the wireframes, inserted GW, and we are gonna have some super sexy babes with gorgeous hair. The final raid boss will be your wife that you forgot about all those years ago. She has babes as hostages and you must rescue them from one final ugly motherfucker.
Why the hell did this make me laugh? lol
Hmmm... anyone else getting this message?
"We’re sorry, but you cannot view this website at this time."
Guess being born in '76 means I'm not old enough, or I'm too old...
Maybe in this new Duke Nukem game you start off defecating instead of just urinating.
20th anniversary of the announcement of DNF?
It could be a coincidence, but September 2nd is also the first day of PAX West. I'm leaning toward a new game reveal on that day.
if they are like microsoft with windows and alternate between good and bad we are in for a treat. Also a big fan of borderlands so there is hope, not holding my breath though.
I bet it's a DLC mod for Fallout 4 Nuka World.
I don't see another possibility unless they have a brand new product. I just hope they stopped using Unreal Engine 3.
True, but there hasn't been any news regarding that for years but I will remain cautiously optimistic for the time being.
I treated DNF like an HD remake of a game that was never released. It was OK. Had some bright spots in between a lot of uninspired filler crap.
Gearbox is not the developer again right?...if so there could be hope
The interesting thing is that if I would have told you back in 2007 that not only 1 DN sequel, but 2 sequels to DN would both come out before HL 2 Episode 3/HL3, what would we have all said?
And yes, I know this one's not out yet either...
It's a duke 3d remaster.
If it has modern OS and widescreen support then it might be worth it. Wish it was a new game though.
If they faithfully remade D3D in full 3D...that'd be awesome.
This...eh, not so much.
I am going to agree with you they arnt even taking the time to seek out the hrp Duke Nukem 3D: High Resolution Pack and other duke quality mods...
wait. so... new game using the original game?
