Hmm... could someone point out what my untrained eye is missing? I'm not seeing anything that makes me particularly impressed with CryEngine 3. What was in the video that couldn't be done on say, the Unreal Engine (the one used for ME 2)?
The gameplay looked like a lot of fun though; I'm holding off on the preorder until I see some reviews but I liked the first one and this looks promising.
Graphical detail capable on cryengine compared to unreal engine is like night and day. There is still no UE based game that comes close to how amazing crysis and warhead looked when released 2 years ago.
It's because all the gameplay videos use the console version, so everything looks worse.

It's a trailer bro ... their only going to show the cool stuff.looks good...
concerns:
(1) no human enemies? yea I know the aliens are now basically reskinned humanoids, but I love killing people... I dunno, just something I like
not true, the unreal engine isn't the same engine that was being used for ut3, its been updated on a regular basis. I think the last time was last than 2 weeks ago in fact.
I know different types of games, but I don't think bioshock 2 looked worse than crysis, me2 was a good example as well.
I'd reserve judgment on that till we get our hands on the game.Looks more like the "optimization" consists of setting the game in a city, because buildings are easier to draw than dense vegetation. The only major change in CryEngine 3 seems to be the existence of a console version. I just hope the compromises they undoubtedly made to squeeze it onto the consoles don't negatively affect the PC version, like how Warhead was supposed to be more optimized than original Crysis, but it also didn't look as good.

Bioshock 2 didn't even use UE3, it is UE2.5 and it looks fucking awful. ME2 looked fine when you focused on the characters, everything else was low res textures and very very minimal use of proper shaders. Crysis easily outmatched them in graphical detail.
The team already said that if the features don't scale down to the consoles then they wont make it in the game, that's why we're not going to see cutting edge stuff like tessellation I bet.

why do the enemy have a glow around them? are we too stupid to realize the bad guys?
