New build: Ryzen 5 3600/3600X, Ryzen 7 3700X/3800X or Ryzen 9 3900X or 3950X?

Okay, got a used board Asus Crosshair VIII Hero (non Wifi) - (acquired from another member here) and just a question of CPU choice.

As title says above...which one and why?

Main use: Mainly gaming, but thinking of editing videos down the road for Youtube or just for family viewing/fun.

Depends on the monitor. For 144Hz, the 3700. For 60Hz, the 3600. Based on your light requirements I don't really see the need to spend for more unless you just want big dick energy

If you want to do some video editing at some point I'd grab the 3900X. Apparently, you can get one for right around $400 right now.

I only have 60hz 4k monitors.

Throw the 3950X out of the equation?

If you're on a set budget get the 3600X and put the $100 you'd save on an 8 core into a better GPU. I think that would give you the best performance for the money.

The 3600X is as fast as any AMD chip when it comes to gaming and not that far behind in multi-threaded apps like video editing. Right now they're going for $200 with the 3700X at $300 and 3900X at $400. I wouldn't consider the 3800X as it's only 1-3% faster than a 3700X and only in a few applications but costs $50 more.

No, its just more of the 3900X being a value proposition. Also, some people say they want to get into things and don't ever actually do it. The 3900X means he won't have spent too much on something if he doesn't use it. However, the 3950X is a great CPU and if you really are going to do video editing, it will smoke a 3900X without question. It's also quite a bit more expensive.
