I recently put together a computer but there seems to be a problem with the motherboard. The CD drive and Harddrive do not work. the bios will not show up and the monitor goes into standby. I tried a new powersource, nothing happened. I tried to use different molexes, same results. I tried a new cd-r from my old computer and it too would not get a light or open. I then put the harddrive and cd-r into my old computer and they were perfectly opperational. This leads me to believe there is something deffinitly wrong with my motherboard. also all fans are opperational, the video card fan, processor fan, and case fan.

specs

6800xt pci-e
wd 120gb hd 7200rpm

any help?

The one that i bought was a 24 and i plugged it in. the other one was a 20 and i left the 4 open.

Check and make sure that the cpu is seated right. Take it out and put it back in. I know a guy who didnt get it in right and it would do what yours was doing. It really sounds like the processor isnt geting reconized.

I double checked the processor it is seated correctly. the only thing i can think of right now is that it is a faulty motherboard unless anyone else can help me or perhaps suggest something?
