Please answer the stickied "ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FIRST!" so that we can help you better.

Encoding...I/O and memory bandwidth is king. I7-39xx CPU lots of SSD's (or SSD PCIX card that does not use SATA).

This can get expensive... do you really just want an enthusiast type bang for the buck system or a real power crunching system?

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
A little gaming but a lot of video encoding, those are the 2 main things
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
budget is 2,500
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
Austin, TX
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
RAM, CPU, SSD, Case, GPU, PSU and MOBO
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Not reusing any parts. everything will be brand new
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Withing the next month or 2
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s, I haven't decided if i am going to use RAID or not. probably not
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes. 64 bit Windows 8

I want a real power crunching system. like i said 2,500 is flexible

What was the system that you used before for encoding?

Do you have the funds right now to buy everything, say, now?

Yes I have the funds for everything right now. The other system I had is an i7 920 woth an evga mobo and a velociraptor hard drive. I just want to upgrade to the best and fastest system

Could you please answer question 7? Or did you need a new monitor as part of that $2500 budget?

By video encoding, did you also mean Video editing as well? Are you using Adobe Premier Pro?

EDIT: Holy hell was that weird.

Notes:
- You will need to manually edit your Premier Pro CS6 configuration file to add support for the above GPU.
- Have the OS and your most commonly used apps on the SSD with the rest of your data and least used apps on the hard drive.
- The above parts are recommendeding if you're planning on buying in June. If you have to wait until July to buy the parts, bump up this thread again so that we can the build if need be as sometimes our recommendations changes monthly and sometimes even weekly.
- You're starting off with 32GB of RAM.
- Apparently you may need to grab a second SSD for just in case.
- If you have any questions about the above build, feel free to ask.

I left out the case as that's something you should choose on your own due to differing tastes in aesthetics. With that said, here are some cases that I recommend:

So you wouldn't recommend waiting and to do a Haswell build?

So you wouldn't recommend waiting and to do a Haswell build?

Not for your uses of encoding. You will see better performance from the two additional cores (total of 12 threads) than with a Haswell CPU at this point in time.

Listen to these guys. Haswell is 4 core max. Haswell-E is a year and 4 months away minimum. The only other possible option is IB-E which we MIGHT see in 4 months, but do you really want to wait that long for a mild performance boost?

Good point... thank you guys for all your help
