hey all
am finally getting round to making a new system
will basically be a gaming/media center with an OCing later on if needs be,
looking at either
a
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+, dual core, socket AM2, 2.6GHz
or
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+, dual core, socket AM2, 2.6GHz

im just getting into the start of it and need to do more research but im hoping you guys can give me a nudge in the right direction and i can start sketching out a system.
thoughts etc greatly appreciated!

if your up in that price range, you'd be better off with core2 duo setup, it even has better oc'ability.

I know you're posting in the AMD section, but have you given any thought to a C2D system? It's really your best bang for your buck, especially if you're planning on OCing like you say you might. The 5000+ is $215 on Newegg, the 5200+ is $225, and you can get the E6400 for $221. The E6400 will outperform both, especially when overclocked.

That said, if you're dead-set on an AM2 system, get the 5200+. For only $10, double the L2 cache is definitely worth it.

like the others have stated, since you are buying all new parts you should highly consider Intel. Check any review site.

Also: can you link the 3600+ brisbane and mobo combo deal?
