Good day,

Maybe a newbie question here but...

What is an average amount of traffic to be sent/received on a network connection ? I haven't been doing much of anything network wise but as of my writing this, the machine has only been on for about 20 mins and the results are as follows:

Sent: 992,428 bytes
Received: 3,339,223 bytes

It seems like a lot to me but I'm not sure. Like I said, I haven't done much online/on the network and I'm not 100 percent sure if the received amount is average or is it picking up traffic from everyone on the network and tracking that traffic.

Any help or explanation would be great.

Thanks,
Murph

thats nothing abnormal at all. remember that is in BYTES. so you have sent ~900Kbytes of data and recieved ~3 Mbytes of data. nothing at all.

Ok, I sit corrected. Makes sense now. I wasn't paying attention to the fact that it was bytes.

Duh.

Thanks!

Well if the PC was just sitting there and recieved 3mbps of traffic I would be worried. Run virus scan and spyware tools.

If the PC is sitting idle there should be no send and recieve activity on the network.
