We have had a bunch of computers coming in and our customers have the same complaint, only works online for a short period of time.

I've been unable to find a common thread between the computers, except for windows XP.

A wipe and reload fixes it, and a new nic fixes it.

Different brands have had the problem, different antivirus programs on the computer, different computer makes, laptops.

Upon plugging the patch cable in, it acquires an IP and it'll be fully functional for about .5mins. After that .5mins nothing works, can't ping google, can't browse websites, can't even ping the gateway/router/local computers.

yep, my old Asus M2A-VM mobo did that BS, i couldnt stand it, it would drop the network connection after regular, heavy, and idle use

i sold the computer and got a new one.

however when i had it, i tried

5 operating systems (ubuntu, xubuntu, kubuntu, vista, XP/TinyxP)
in xp i tried 4 diffrent network card drivers
disabled power management
disabled WOL
enabled WOL
enabled pwr mgmt
tried assigned MAC addy
tried static ip
couldnt figure it out
couldnt figure it out.

while similar in issue, not quite the same

as i mentioned above, a new nic or OS fixes the issue
