Ive seen these, they are really small. Id end up ripping it off my desk and throwing it at the wall. I have a heavy bag in my garage, but then id have to leave the computer... Maybe between rounds.

And i dont need therapy, every multiplayer gamer thats competitive gets upset. I can tell when my friends do, but most of them are silent and just sit there with a pissed look on their face. Im one of the few that shows emotion. Either me and all my friends are fucked up in the head and need to visit anger management, or we are just like everyone else. (i dont know every gamer, so i can only speak for the ones i know)

Wow this thread is totally (S). This is [H], you pussies.
Anger and rage, all over my expensive equipment. Not that I've ever broken anything due to Gradius, but some games are masochist and may break ones resolve.

Ah yes, I remember clearly breaking down after a few hours of torture that is Battletoads on NES. That and Ninja Gaiden 1. Fuck that game. I dont ever want to see it again, and just the mention of it makes me curse and want to punch shit.

RAGE

For ultimate in nerd rage see GRADIUS 3.
I can only play that game when I'm alone. Torturous, delightful pain. Ultimate rage. Want to eat babies.

Nerd rage games reduce testosterone. Extra adrenal function and catabolic state of being.

So i for one am loving BF3, but the bugs are causing quite a few bs deaths (its beta i know).

Ive always been a fps lover, but occasionally i feel the urge to throw/punch/break something after a series of wrongful deaths (console controllers are doomed because im already holding them during the rage; ps3 controllers are resilient though. They still work after meeting my wall at near fastball speeds)

Lately ive been worried about my mouse meeting my new 27" Asus monitor, and i wonder if there is a remedy you have come to find for brief episodes of nerd rage! Ive tried woosa, to no avail.

Ive thought about a tennis ball next to keyboard to throw, stress ball maybe. Throw some ideas my way.

Do some cardio and then meditate.

6grams of dark chocolate a day has proven to help people balance out their emotions. Also has improved cardiovascular health as much as 33% in some.

I eat 30g currently of 90% chocolate day, haven't really had too many issues with "nerd rage" but i do feel less inclined to get upset at games. Also serves as my source of caffeine.

EDIT: and i get tons of cardio, ride a Trek road bike to work every day.

On a more serious note, you are playing a wargame, graphics are so realistic now that your brain thinks that it is real, it's natural for a human to go into physiological, adrenaline, fight or flight based responses. People come back from real world battlefields with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Really you are asking a Psychology & stress management question so... eat healthy ( less processed foods and more certified organic ( if you can afford it ) mostly raw, vegetables, get at least 8 hours sleep ( or however you need to get REM sleep ), try and take breaks to get sunlight ( as a natural anti-depressant ), exercise regularly ( I do advanced Pilates, advanced Step Aerobics and I sometimes go indoor rock climbing ).

This is going to sound strange but try and find humour in the situation and laugh at it. Smiling has a biofeedback response meaning if you are unhappy but start making a shape of a smile, your brain will think you are happy which in turn leads to more smiling and more happy feelings. This was based on a Psychology test where people were asked to hold a pencil between their teeth and rate their happiness ( which forces your mouth to approximate the shape of a smile ) .

People lead extraordinarily, Psychologically unhealthy lifestyles which leads inevitable behavioural problems.

Speaking of unhealthy lifestyles, I have to go and work a 4pm - midnight shift. Good luck.

Your gonna laugh at this guys so be prepared I'm warning you. We were playing tiger woods on ps2 for $50 and i missed the winning putt. I threw the tennis ball not looking it bounced off the wall and hit me in the face, when it hit me i stood up and heaved the controller and it hit the brick chimney base in the basement and basically exploded.

Not only did I lose a $50 bet, I got owned by a tennis ball and i broke a controller and had to clean the mess up. When i get mad now I just take a smoke break after I mumble something vulgar at the screen...

Can't tell if the OP is serious or just trolling -

Assuming he's serious, if you have fits of rage and destroy your own stuff over a god damn video game or your lack of coping ability, you need to turn off the games go outside and play. I would suggest drinking but as you seem like someone with control issues in the first place that probably isn't a good idea.

Seriously though - I can't understand how people are so willing to throw shit, hit stuff, and generally destroy expensive toys because some ass hat did something to you in a game from 2000 miles away. Unless you have money falling out of your ass why would you do something to destroy a 300 dollar monitor? Maybe I have the mental discipline of a vulcan or maybe I have to work and pay for all my own stuff, and if I was breaking it from nerd rage I wouldn't have said stuff anymore.

If you want a serious suggestion, I would say go see a psychologist, because it's not freaking normal to destroy your stuff and hurt others over a god damn video game. I'd say get a girlfriend, but it sounds like you'd beat her to a pulp if she ever did something to piss you off.

Get help my friend.

I've never been one to get overly angry at video games. At my worst I just squeeze the controller really hard (on console) or bang my desk with my fist (PC). These days I dont get stressed about games at all, my job is stressful enough, games are supposed to be my relaxation. If I feel myself getting stressed playing a particular game, I stop playing it.

It was never meant to be serious topic with recommendations for therapy. Just wanted to see what others have done to stop "nerd rage", and maybe get a few funny stories/ answers in the mix.

I work outside on my feet for 8 hours a day. The last thing I want to do after work is go outside when I feel like raging. Its just frustrating when I'm trying to relax with a game (multiplayer not SP), and a buggy game causes me to be excessivly killed. Beta is almost over, so no more raging unless the final game is just as buggy as the beta.

Fish oils ( Omega 3-6 ) regulate mood, especially for bi-polar disorder. Some people don't like the taste of fish oils and it takes a lot of pressed fish to make a relatively small quantity of oil. When I was on a vegan diet, there was a company called Vpure that would take seaweed and put it into capsules ( it's actually the seaweed that the fish eat, that converts into Omega fatty acids ). It was cutting edge stuff at the time, so there were no reviews or efficacy studies available:

http://www.v-pure.com/

Fish oils are necessary for eye and brain cell regeneration.

Monster Hunter games bring out the worst in me. I've thrown my psp when playing MH1 and thrown my PC controller playing MH3 on the PC via Dolphin Emulator.

They're intact since I throw them on the bed, lol.

i ragequit god of war 2 this weekend, and during the final scene too. first time ive ever gotten mad enough at a game to just give up. most of the gameplay is pretty fun, but when they expect you to press the correct button in i swear .1 seconds, its just not fun any more. i could do that on computer maybe, but this is the second game ive played on ps ever, the first one being gow1, and i just dont play enough to be that quick on the buttons. i hear they improved it for 3, but i think i may have ragequit the whole series. :/

Beer, lots of yelling and breaking old cd cases. Something oddly satisfiying about it.
