At work we have a second generation iMac like this one:

I need to wipe the HDD so we can resell. What utilities can I use? We normally use DBAN on Windows PC's, but that won't work here.

If you have an OSX install disk, it will live boot and offer a utility called 'Disk Utility' which can do a 7-pass zero out.

This is what I always use.

Thanks. I got it wiped today with DBAN. Still trying to find the install media (10.3.9 IIRC).

It should be able to handle up to 10.4.11, or Leopard if it's 800mhz and up.

Thanks. It's a 1.25GHz processor with 2x512MB PC2700 and an 80GB HDD.

Anyone know how to eject the CD after the OS has been wiped? Dang DBAN CD is stuck in the drive... lol
