Need to reduce bass in some audio files, whats an easy program to use?

I just purchased Xingtone and like it alot, but when I listen to the ringtone on my phone I have a hardtime hearing the vocals because of the bass. I've tried using goldwave and Nero's Wave Editor, but I dont know what I'm looking for to reduce the bass. What do I adjust or better yet, whats a good program to reduce the bass so I can hear my ringtones clearly? Thanks
