is there anything missing? anything i could change to lower price without loseing tomuch performance he is trying to runn Gta4 @ pretty high setting

if he plans on overclocking you will need a better heatsink, stock just doenst cut it. probably dont need a 730W powersupply for that rig though

get a different PSU.
Choose parts that have free shipping, that should save you up to $35-40.

9800GT for the same price (same card really)

Spring for a 640GB Western digital drive, why pay $0.22 per GB when you can pay $0.12?

You'll only need a quality 500W power supply with that setup, for SLI I'd look into something larger.

I'd get a P45 motherboard, I wouldn't pay more for an nvidia chipset if you held a gun to my head, but if SLI is the goal, then OK.

Also, why the DDR2-800 when 1000 is only $28 AR?

Why SLI out of date cards? Why not get one better card?

I know the budget is a constraint, but if an SLI mobo and uprated PSU are driving the initial cost up is it really better?

Why not just get a GTX 260 or 4870? There are some pretty hefty rebates on these cards if you look around.

$180 4870 (rebate)
$22 DVD
$60 case
$75 WD6400AAKS
$130 monitor
$60 OCZ 600w OCZ600GXSSLI (rebate)
$35 keyboard
$25 decent DDR2 800 ram (rebate)
$100 GA-EP45-UD3R mobo (rebate)
$190 Q6600
======
$877

Video card and HDD are much better for cheaper.

well he is getting it for chrsitmas, and he works he wants to wait a month or so and add another graphics card

One newer-generation card is always a better option than two of the previous generation. The 8800GT is an old card now, it's much more practical to spend the money up front and get a newer card. SLI only makes sense if you buy two of the highest-end cards at the same time right after their release; otherwise, your dual-card setup will be outperformed by newer single card solutions very quickly. SLI and building a computer on a budget never go together well.

Go for a GTX 260 or HD4870, you won't regret it.

an not to mention a single 8800GT is plenty for a 19" LCD Monitor .... sli is not needed , maybe a want but its not gonna be any of use - i could see if he was using a 22" / 24" or better

QFT. There is no reason to go 8800GT or 9800GT SLI for a 19" monitor. SLI is only truly worth it for a 24" monitor and bigger. Great quote on SLI:

Just some info on SLI / Crossfire: It's absolutely not worth considering if a) you're gaming at a resolution under 1920x1200 (as you'll see no performance benefit over a single card,) and b) if you plan to buy one card now and another later. SLI / Crossfire as an upgrade path is usually a very poor idea, as by the time you're ready to get that second card, a new single card solution will likely be available that will outperform two of your older cards in tandem. Furthermore, there really is no cost benefit to the SLI Upgrade Route, as any additional cost in getting the new card can be easily mitigated in most situations by selling the original. By avoiding an SLI / Crossfire solution when it will not be of benefit, you gain a cooler running, simpler to maintain system and more importantly, access to a much better (and broader) selection of motherboards.

Here's what I'd get instead:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU - $190 FS
MSI Neo3-F Intel P43 Motherboard - $85
G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ 2 x 2GB DDR2 800 RAM - $40 FS
Sapphire 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI-E Video Card - $150 FS
Samsung SH-222F 22X DVD±R SATA DVD Burner - $25 FS
Western Digital WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $75 FS
BFG Tech LS-680 680W PSU - $78 FS
Antec 300 ATX Case - $65 shipped
Acer X223Wbd Black 22" DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor - $170 FS
---
Total: $878 plus tax and shipping.

Use the rest of the money on a keyboard and the shipping on the mobo. Managed to get in a significantly larger monitor, faster video card, faster hard drive, significantly better quality power supply (that Raidmax was a POS), and a more stable RAM and motherboard. So essentially the above build is a significantly better buy than your current build list.

EDIT: Oh and if you want to save an additional $12, just go with this PSU instead:
BFG Tech LS-550 550W PSU - $67

Either of the BFG PSUs will be enough for your system and are of signifcantly better quality than the Raidmax

id go with danny bui's build

it would be much faster than the current build you have listed , an you get a 22" monitor to boot

NEED TO LOWER PRICE.....cant have it over $900

Oh so that $900 includes both tax and shipping? Should have made that clearer, dude.

Where do you live? If it's not CA, NJ or TN, then you won't get charged tax on newegg purchases. Also, just above every part I listed had free shipping. The only part that shipping was not factored in was the motherboard.

Also, what will this PC be used for?

get a cheap keyboard , i still use my dell(5-6 years old) keyboard , i just cant let it do!!

this pc will be used for gaming GTA4 counterstrike crysis all those cool games you know, yes i lie in cali and tax is a bitch

i think the 640g hd is a litte much, also maybe getting faster memory would help sence he will be overclocking, but nothing extreme prolly around 3.2-3.6

3.2 - 3.6 ghz the DDR2 800 ram will suffice. Also, I still recommend you stick with that HDD. It is fast and quiet.
