I put my 8800GTX on a full cover waterblock a while ago, but now I have to use the air cooler again while I rebuild my water loops in a new case.

The thermal tape on the stock cooler fell apart when I pulled it off, and I can't find anything even close to the thickness that they used on these to replace it with. It seems to be about as thick as a stick of gum, maybe more. I'm actually shocked by the thickness and I'm amazed that these cards dont have heat issues.

Does anyone know where to get some?

Can't you just use Arctic Ceramique?
http://www.arcticsilver.com/ceramique.htm

Ceramique will give you better heat transfer/lower temps,

but it may not line up with the HSF at the same level as the core.

The thermal pad/tape stuff the OP is talking about is "compressable" so that it will match the elevated core.

EDIT nevermind this is for CPU http://www.amazon.com/Thermal-Pad-Replacing-Heatsink-Paste/dp/B0009B0K2I

you need pads for the vregs also

No, any sort of paste wont work. there is a very large gap between the heat sink and the memory. I've probably got a dozen tubes of AS5 laying around, the problem is I need something thick between them.

That stuff at Petras in above post should do the trick just fine.

petra's ran out of the tim pads. Does any know where I can buy the exact same thing?

TIA.

Dont use those HSPC ones, i got one for the same thing, theyre way to thin and they dont stick well. Those petras look like the AC thermal pads wich are really good.
