Recommendations for Windows or Linux is fine. Am I better off setting up my own SFTP server or just get a VPS?
Follow along with the video below to see how to install our site as a web app on your home screen.
Note: This feature may not be available in some browsers.
Unless your home internet has a synchoronous high-speed connection (and probably an IP address to assign it), just use a VPS. Plus, that's more secure - worst case your VPS gets hacked instead of your whole computer.
Thanks. I am leaning more towards Linux ATM.Linux: pretty self explanatory what to do there (if not, ask for more info. google would give you a better step by step but whatever)
Windows..best option is: http://www.bitvise.com/ssh-server
Bonus. Connecting from another Win computer? This allows you to mount a network drive via SFTP:
http://code.google.com/p/win-sshfs
This will just server out a few ISOs that are not mission critical at all. The software is dead unless you have a registration code that is controlled by another company. I can easily serve out over 2MB sustained on upload from the house so I think I am good for a single or two user download running at once. Worst case I can up to 5MB.What are you trying to do? Who are you sharing files with? What resources do you have available to you?
