I'm running low on cash, but I definitely need a new monitor, and I'd love to go LCD, but I needa decent gaming one for less than $400 CDN($320USD). My TTX CRT monitor is taking a beating, literally, it changes tint colours on me, and the only way to return it to normal, is to fucking hit the damn thing hard. No joke...

So... with a little looking for an LCD screen, I came across this:
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1337730&Sku=H54-1706

17" 8ms response for less than $300...only problem, it's a Hyundai.

My mom already owns a similar one, and it gave her some problems in the beginning(no reds at all for a short period of time perhaps due to power fluctuations here in Quebec, warped pixels in the top right).

Just because of the price tag, I'm seriously considering purchasing this monitor. I hope I don't make a mistake. It's a Hyundai, my mom owns a similar LCD monitor from them, my sister drives a Kia(a crappy POS one, mind you), but the price makes it look so attractive...

Argh, what to do?!

Other posibilities include:

Acer 17" LCD 12ms

NEC 17" LCD 16ms

Viewsonic 17" LCD 16ms

I guess no one ever tried Hyundai...no wonder they're only available at TigerDirect.

THe L90D+ is a little out of my range for price. Considering I can't get it cheaper than $450 + shipping.

The Samsung 730B is going for around 400ish @ Staples.ca.. It's got DVI, and it's 8ms... I just picked up the 930B and it's freaking awesome :)

So what about the Hyundai L72S? If the 930B is basically a L90D+, then 730B = L72S?

Also, how big a difference is it if the native resolution = 1280x1024 and if I play certain games at 1024x768(because I compete competitively in these games, a specific resolution is needed for me)? Like if its lower than the native resolution, does it become that blocky/blurred or whatever?

I owned an L70S (precursor to the L72S) and it's a good monitor. 1024x768 will look OK.. it kind of looks antialiased actually.
