I just bought a house, which means I'm broke. :) Once I recoup some I'd like to put a 40" in the master bedroom with some in-walls. Nothing special, but quality nonetheless.

My price range for fronts, center and surrounds would be $1k or less. I'd love to find an upstart internet company, trying to make a name for themselves, selling quality speakers for budget prices. I thought there used to be a place like that called "The Speaker Company", but I can't find them now.

In any event, I'm thinking 5.25" - 6.5" drivers, directional tweets (no horns), in-ceilings for the rears and paintable grills. I'll deal with the sub later (not sure what I want to do there yet).

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have speakercraft - very good, even at the entry level. They come with paintable grills (insert behind grill is removable, so no prep) and the usual cutouts for install.

Also, you can try the usual:

Paradigm
Sonance
Polk
Boston

Also, when you buy ur speakers, when installing, make a box for them (if u can) and insulate them with polyfill.

Seconded, and updated the list as well :).

If you are going to buy Infinity/JBL/Harman Kardon you should be checking their ebay store for some sick discounts. I got at least half my speakers from them, but you have to be patient if you go this route.

The lowes I worked at had an in wall speaker display. It sounded bad ass but for the life of me I cant remember the brand. That vendor also may have been region specific I'm in the northeast. Worth a look though.
