Need help with my creative X-FI express card and Z5500's

Right i have the following sound card for my laptop below:

and i basically want to connect to my logitech z5500 via optical, when i connect the optical cable into the optical out or optical in for that matter, it says on the control pod for the z5500 (No digital data)

Does anyone know why that is or what i am doing wrong etc, thanks

If you where going to use the optical out, there are much cheaper options then that X-Fi.

By using the optical out (S/PDIF), you bypass the analog circuitry that makes the X-Fi so pricey to begin with. Use the analog out if you want to take advantage of the sound card you payed for.
