The tablet is a HP Compaq Tablet PC 1100 running on Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005 and I am currently trying to install an Operating System on it. I already downloaded the OS but now I can't seem to get it on the USB correctly or something. I've downloaded several programs and even tried to make my USB bootable through cmd.exe/boot-bootsec.exe but none of them seem to work for me. Anyone have any suggestions on what to use?

Have you checked out this website?

I haven't tried putting XP on a USB stick but I have done Windows 7 and had some issues with larger sized USB devices. I could get it to work on a 32gig usb stick but not 64 or bigger.

I actually have tried this website.. Among others. But thank you very much for the input! You are the first to respond.

I did find an interesting article and so far it looks promising. I have been able to get the Windows XP setup to launch from a usb device but i'm getting a 07b error code when it finishes enumerating all the hardware and tries to start windows.

So the install isn't seeing the hard drive for some reason. I'll continue to work on this and see if I can find the issue. Here is the link that contains the zip file i used to create the USB image. It was called USB_PREP8.zip. I also downloaded the PEtoUSB executable to handle the formatting of the usb device.

Should I start over at page one? Or would I be wasting my time?

Edit* PeToUSB program wont work for me.. It wont pick up my usb.
