Cant seem to find my internal TB3 hardware.
Intel TB software shows no 'Controller Driver'.
Bios shows 'Alpine Ridge' and security options for plug in.
Cannot find in HWInfo.

Any help please?

it usually doesn't show up unless if something is plugged in.

If something is plugged in and nothing is working, try restarting the Thunderbolt service.

Plugged in my eGPU that works on another machine (mac) and it's lights did not power up as they do on the Mac.
I checked the service, it was not running. Restarted the service and tried the eGPU. No joy.

This is such a hard problem, I've asked a few places and your the only person to offer any suggestions lol

Go back into BIOS and scroll the different (if any) options and try diff things.

It's a non UEFI bios with text only.
Inaside it shows under Advanced:
Intel Thunderbolt
then
Intel Thunderbolt Configuration
Thunderbolt Host Chip Alpine Ridge
Security Level [Unique ID-One time save key-DP++ only]

Thats it.

Is there an extra driver required for TB? Like for some intel SSD's and Optane controllers etc?

So far this is what I've done:

Updated bios from usb to 307

I've fresh installed the latest Windows version from MS from usb

I let it do it's automatic updates.

Got the drivers for Thunderbolt and ATK from Asus support

Updated Thunderbolt driver V126.2.52.250

Rebooted.

Ran Asus Thunderbolt Update NVM_v15_TI_v1.5

Worked and rebooted

Tried my egpu or anything usb-c in it and nothing works.

This is what it shows when I run the Thunderbolt software under details:

https://lnv.i.lithium.com/t5/image/serverpage/image-id/144719iFE374CA2B0457947?v=1.0

I see no Controller driver version.

I tried to update TB3 firmware with XG Station 2 2017/07/24 v1.7.6

I get this error from the Asus Firmware screen:

Update Error, Firmware update process is halted (0x10430002).

annoyingly, TB3 firmware and drivers are not distributed via Intel, and is largely/completely dependent on OEM/ODMs. I hate this factor of TB3.

Also, to OP, I meant restart the service when the device is still plugged in.

Interesting, did not know that. That makes little sense to me
