Hello. I'm looking to get some ethernet cable to connect another computer to my router, but the thing is, i've never bought any before, haha, so I'm not sure what to look for to be honest. All the stuff I've used came with my modem and router. There's so many different types it seems. Like is this what I'm looking for basically? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812107065) Or is this just as good? It's pretty cheap for the length. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189086) If anyone can recommend a place to get some for cheap and what type to get, that'd be great. I need a decent length in case I want to put the computer on the other side of the room. Thanks a bunch in advance for any help.

Unless you need GUARANTEED GigaBit speeds (which it doesn't sound like you do), then you'll be fine with Cat5e cabling. Just go to NewEgg and type in CAT5E and that's it! Then, just pick the length and you'll be good to go, cheaper than Cat6.

Also, when used properly, Cat5e will definitely support 1Gbps speeds :D

Yeah, I don't think I have ever used a single CAT6 cable. Been running Gigabit(and able to fully saturate the connection) for a few years on CAT5e. Now, that said, the longest run I have done was only 100ft.

Alright, sweet. Thanks for the help guys. So this should be fine then right? Seems like a good length, and it's a neutral color in case some of it is showing, I don't have bright blue cables running along the floor, haha.

Belkin cables are a rip off at full retail price. I got a whole bunch from a place that buys close-outs, all because they changed the packaging of the cables :D
