I currently have a 2 xfx 7800gtx video card to use for 2 c2d builds. Both of these gpus are not mine though, 1 is. Me and my friend are going to build e6700 builds only because we are getting the e6700s processors very close to the 6600 prices (415 out the door).

well heres are dilema, im thinking 600 is enough for mobo, ram, psu and a 120 dollar case? minus 90 dollars for a 300 gb 7200prm 16mb cache harddrive so 390 left for mobo,ram,and psu? (maybe we can squeeze another 100-160 towards the total budget for the computer)

for the motherboard we probably are never going to go sli so we didnt see the point in getting an sli mobo, that way we can save a few extra bucks. But we just dont know which one has the best overclock potential or even a decent maybe anywhere from 100-220 dollars tops?

ram: we want 2gb for a max of 150?

psu: max 140 with tax and shipping

i dunno not sure if those price limits on each of the items will help you guys, but if anyone out there could help with helping me and my roommate picking out these parts that would be great.

Ram: it's not gonna happen. 2GB for $150 is impossible right now
PSU: there are really nice ones out there for around $100, especially if you're not going SLI
Motherboard: Invest $150-$230

I see it this way:

Mem: $230-$260 for 2GB
PSU: $80-$120
Motherboard: $140-$200

Makes a total of $450-$580. For $390 you won't get 2GB, Motherboard and nice PSU. Simple as that.

Ram: TeamGroup memory from www.Tankguys.biz (ask via email which one. The owner is incredibly helpful when choosing the right memory)

Motherboard: Gigabyte DQ6 or Asus P5B Deluxe

Powersupply: you gotta ask someone with more knowledge. I think Fortron, Seasonic, Enermax etc. are trusty brands. Get at least 500W with dual 12V rails and at least 18A on each of the 2 rails.

So you basically have a $550 budget for everything except the CPU and vidcard?

If I had your parts, I'd go with these parts:
$120 - Antec Performance I P180 Silver (Case used as an example of $120 case)
$175 - MSI 975X Platinum Socket T
$250 - G.SKILL 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 (F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ)
$95 - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS 320GB 7200RPM SATA3G
$70 - Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-500 ATX12V 500W
=============
$710 + tax and shipping

But since thats over your budget, go for this:
$150 - GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 Socket T
$190 - mushkin 2GB DDR2-667 model:996521
$55 - WD Caviar SE WD1600JS 160GB 7200RPM SATA300
$50 - FSP Group AX450-PN 450W
$50 - COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-WW Black/Silver
=============
$495 + tax and shipping

You need to either get more money, or go cheap on the case, lol.

would it even be wise to purchase an SLI board when i probably wont ever use it?

I dont want to spend money on an sli board if i dont ever planning on going sli, also are the nf5 chipset out yet?

No, the nF5 intel chipset boards arent out yet, and they most likely wont be for another month at least. You really only need SLI if you want to game at 1600x1200 or higher w/ the highest settings. If you don't plan on ever going SLI, then no, don't buy an SLI board if it costs more than a non-SLI board. However, some SLI boards are cheaper than non-SLI boards. In any case, if you want a setup now, go with what I suggested above.
