EA has released our first look at the next Need for Speed game. I am waiting for a sequel to Rivals myself, but those of you who enjoy racers backed with a story may take a liking to this one. Maybe they should just make a NFS tie-in with Fast and the Furious.

Set in the underworld of Fortune Valley, you and your crew are reunited by a search for vengeance against The House, a nefarious cartel that rules the city’s casinos, criminals, and cops. Your car is at the center of everything you do. Craft unique rides with deeper performance and visual customization than ever before. From intense missions to high stakes car battles to jaw dropping set piece moments, Need for Speed Payback delivers an edge-of-your-seat, action-driving fantasy.

The last two games were kind of shit, so I'll temper my excitement. Wish we could just get a next-gen remake of Hot Pursuit or the Underground games.

This looks kinda like Hardline w/o the guns IMO...

I'm really looking forward to forced cut-scenes, and forced tutorials... Etc...

Actually I think I'm mostly still bitter about this...

I mostly miss games with the option of just throwing my dumbass into the action and figuring it out as I go... But they always gotta fluff up that cinematic bullshit on everything, I'll go watch a fucking movie if I want a cinematic on every release... Some games should just be fun, simple, easy, fast arcade style games...

This game probably isn't my cup of tea...

This seems more like in the ballbark of The Run, and I liked that. The narrative gave meaning to the otherwise pointless boring races with terrible handling cars, and reverse slipstream.

But the series itself to me died after hot pursuit 2, I mean the 2002 one. Then the game went too far away from racing into some murky underground fast and furious but stupid lineage.

Shift2 was a pleasant racing game, but had nothing to do with the spirit of NFS, as it was a closed circuit racer.

I would get excited about this if it was being made by a reputable dev team, who has proven that they can create a good road racing game. Like eden, but ofc they're no longer around.

The next time I'll be excited for an NFS game is when they announce they're licensing physics from beamng for it.

When can we get a race that starts from the sky (dropped from a plane like in the movie)? How about tanks?

Campaign only kinda sucks. For example Nfs The Run & new Hot Pursuit. Fun though.
2002's hot pursuit 2 has a great "arcade" deal where most of the game is just racing laps.
Having the Mclaren F1 & F1 LM was badass also. "Free ride" in these new games isn't quite the same. Much fun though.

Honestly this looks reallllllly boring to me. I liked the most recent NFS, where its all about speed, and danger, etc., but this just looks so relaxed of a trailer its not even funny...

That trailer was pretty bad and hopefully the game play is better.
