Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 wireless controller drifts left

I decided to fire up classic NFS:MW (2005) on my HTPC (Win7, G620T, intel hd 2000, 4GB). Since it's an old game, it runs fine on integrated graphics, even with the widescreen fix: http://thirteenag.github.io/widescreen_fixes_pack .

The problem is that whichever wireless controller I try (Xbox 360 wireless or Logitech Rumblepad 2), the steering always drifts to the left. Even if I use the keyboard and leave the controller plugged into the usb port, the car drifts left, making it nearly impossible to control. I tried an old, wired Gravis Gamepad Pro, and it worked fine.

At first, I thought it was a Windows 7 compatibility problem, but the same steering drifting left occurred when I tried running the game on my old P4 1.5 GeForce 4 ti4200 WinXP box. The wired controller or keyboard without any wireless controllers plugged in worked fine.

TL;DR, does anyone remember being able to run this game with wireless controllers? Are there any possible fixes? I already tried calibrating the controller in Win7, with no changing results.

go into the game controller on the control panel. it will show you what buttons are being pressed on the controller. maybe something is wrong with just that controller since it is doing in on both machines

He said that 2 different wireless controllers are doing, but the 3rd wired controller isn't doing it. I have an issue where in BF4 my character will start running forward / left or just left. I have a wireless controller plugged in but it is off.

So I'm interested in an answer for this issue also. :)

The fact that it's wireless is totally unrelated. As far the driver goes, it's only concerned about potentiometer data and button data coming from the USB port. You've got worn pots in the analog stick so that it's never reading center properly (or in the case of a new or near-new controller, simply defective.)

Don't fret over it, just buy a new controller.

I see that it's probably unrelated to using a wireless controller. Maybe NFS:MW has really sensitive input detection when it comes to analog sticks. My Xbox 360 controller is a bit worn, but works perfectly in other games such as NFS: the Run, Shift2: Unleashed, and Assassin's Creed games. However, my Logitech Rumblepad 2 is almost new. The only way I will be able to confirm this is if I test a new Xbox 360 controller.

I just bought a new wired Xbox 360 controller and experience the same problem. Upon doing more research, I realized others have this same problem:

I even tried calibrating the wired Xbox 360 controller first, but with no success. It is worth noting that the raw input doesn't actually allow me to reach all four corners of maximum range during the joystick sensitivity calibration.

Apparently the Logitech controller is know to have the same problem: http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/398862-nfsmw-logitech-wingman-cordless-rumblepad/
