So I'm a n00bie as my title currently so explicitly states :D. I had recently bought a 22 inch hanns and realized that the quality wasn't that great; when reading news etc the words would kinda "bleed" and gameplay just didn't feel sharp though I couldn't really "see" the difference, I definitely felt that there was one compared to my 22 inch Samsung so I got rid of it. I was wondering what advice people could give about statistical nuances that determine which monitor is better as well as any recommendations. I'm personally looking for a great 22 to 26 inch monitor with 1920x1200 resolution for a good price. Thanks in advance to any and all aid!

The Dell U2412M seems to be a popular choice.

Depending on what you mean by "a good price", you could also consider the Samsung S24A850DW.

Consider the HP ZR24W 24" for $356.05 on Amazon w/free shipping

Bang for buck is more of a concern than just buck. Are the more expensive monitors significantly better (within brands)?

If you're willing to consider 1920x1080 you can get a lot more bang for your buck. Unfortunantly 1920x1200 demands a premium these days :(

For the size you're looking at, I would recommend a 24" IPS panel at 1920x1200 (16:10).

IMHO, 16:9 is only acceptable in higher resolutions like 2560x1440.

Read through the threads on the models already suggested, viz. Dell U2412M, Samsung S24A850DW, and HP ZR24W.
