I am looking at 9800 pro's and am wondering if there are any brands to stear clear of?
Some of the brands are powercolor, msi, saphire, and ati.
I know to stay away from the EZ or SE models. Is there a board that lets you know
that they are good or bad ie. a powercolor black board is crap or vice versa?
I remember the black board for the 9500 was not as good as the others.
Any advice is apreciated.

I got my old 9800pro at Compusa, it was just a regular ATI. Ran fine, great overclocker etc...

I think Sapphire was marking their 9800's with 128bit memory interface as 9800pro leading to some confusion. Make sure the board you choose has a 256bit memory interface. I also have an BB ATI board, and no problems so far running overclocked since I got it.

Steer clear of any companies whose name you've never heard before. :p

If in doubt, go ATI/Sapphire/Powercolor, although I've heard good things about MSI 9800 Pros.

MSI makes a very good cooling solution for alot less than the BBATI and powercolor solutions, good card.
