I've been thinking about getting a widescreen LCD for quite a while but can't decide on one. I play games sometimes, but not seriously. It'd mostly be for doing lots of reading/work on the computer, and some watching of movies.

I was considering the Samsung 916BW ($250 Newegg) but from reading this forum, my impression is that the NEC 20WMGX2 ($360 AR) is GOD.

Is the extra $100 worth the price? I was aiming for $200-250, but I probably can afford the extra $100 if it's really worth it. But $350 is definitely the max I want to spend.

I have no need for a TV tuner or the speaker bar on the NEC--do they make a similar model (20-22" range) that's just the great monitor without the extras?

I wish they made such a model. There is a 24 inch VA panel which is pretty decent and doesn't have all the extras, and a 24 inch IPS which is ~1200 bucks. The jump between the 20 inch IPS and the 24 is a huge gap in price (400 vs 1200) -- with no real choice in between - or so I have found.
