So I am investigating replacing our unmanaged switches with some webmanaged or better switches.

The environment is quite dirty, so the solution needs to be fanless.

The current models I am looking at are the HP procurve 1810G-24 and the Dell Power Connect 2816?

I need Vlans, spanning tree, LAG, and broadcast/multicast filtering control. Everything else is gravy.

I'm going to need (3) 16 port units to complete the network.

Additional info:
According to the Netgear GS105E sitting behind our router, we move about 80GB - 500GB of traffic across the network on the average work day.

I'm also game for buying fleabay is there's something worth buying.

I use a 1800G-24 and it does all that so the 1810 will do what you need.

2nd for the Procurve 1810G-24.

So much so, I`ve just bought a 2nd one and I`m planning on playing with trunking.

Solid, silent switch, the web gui is a bit errrmm well unpleasant, but it works!

Ebay is the future:D

1810 here too - dont use the level 2 stuff all the time but you cant beat silent!

Both are good. I personally prefer the cli and web interface on the on the Dell better. I think the Dell should be a little cheaper too.
