Need a PSU and Video Card

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? Gaming, Photoshop, general use - programming for school
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included? less than 2000 for tower
3) Where do you live? New Mexico
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? Entire build, CPU, Memory, Case, PSU, Graphics Card, maybe sound card, MOBO
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Optical drive and 2 hard drives (1 160 gb raptor and one 320 gb storage)
6) Will you be overclocking? Possibly
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have? 24-27" Samsung LED
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC? ASAP
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc. Stable, overclocking, SLI/Crossfie support
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit? Windows 7 64 bit will be bought

Main game currently WOW and Starcraft 2. Want to play Witcher 2 and the Star Wars MMO when it releases. Moderate photoshop use

I dont know the current video card market and am unsure what i should be looking at, same with PSU.

Whats with the same build list posted from different vendors?

In any case a few issues so far:
- You're not gonna notice an iota of real world performance difference between the Corsair RAM you've chosen and this G.Skill set:
$80 - G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL 2 x 4GB DDR3 1333 RAM

So save your money and get the above RAM

- HDD wise, despite the SATA 6.0Gb/s interface, that WD drive performs roughly the same as this $20 cheaper hard drive:
$65 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

- Motherboard wise, I don't see the value in that Sabertooth motherboard considering that some of Asus' Z68 motherboards offer the same features + the additional features of the Z68 chipset while being roughly the same price. I recommend taking a look at the Asus Z68 motherboards.

As for the PSU and GPU recommendation:
- PSU wise I recommend this PSU for long term upgrade purposes:
$110 - Corsair 750TX V2 750W PSU

If you want modular cables:
$150 - Corsair 750HX 750W Modular PSU

- GPU wise, I recommend any Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, or XFX HD 6950 2GB under $290 shipped.
 
what are the differences with a z68 chipset mobo? also would i be better off going to the i5 2500 and going up to like a 580 nvidea card if i can afford the difference
 
With the games that you play -- assuming that you plan on playing them at a 1920x1080 resolution (do you have a monitor now, or are you buying it separately?) -- you don't need the GTX 580. Stick with Danny Bui's recommendation of a 2GB HD 6950.

Z68 enables both the use of the Sandy Bridge processors' onboard GPUs and overclocking (which works best with the K processors with the unlocked CPU multipliers). For comparison's sake, the H61/H67 chipset only allows the use of the onboard GPU, while the P67 chipset only enables overclocking. Z68 also has SSD caching, which is designed to improve the performance of SSDs with 64GB or less storage capacity.
 
I heard this answer to the z68 question over h/p 67 on another forum... And its problably the best way to explain it simply... Instead of saying "its the best of.both worlds" as the saying goes... Its both worlds combined with a few extras (ssd caching)
 
ok ill take a look at the Z68's. In terms of MOBOs i bought my last one with the intention of using SLI eventually better never actually saw the need. are there good overclocking non xfire/sli boards out there?

Also i dont see any boards that list the Z67 from asus on tiger direct?
 
By definition, virtually all of the P67 or Z68 boards that are available today can overclock your processor. You have to search to find the one that has all of the features that you want.

But you never answered my questions about the monitor. Are you buying it separately? Do you have one in mind?
