Current specs:
i7 2600k (stock)
ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z
16gb DDR3
EVGA GTX 560 Ti DS
64gb OCZ Agility SSD
1TB HDD
Corsair GS800 PSU

I have the gtx 560 ti connected to two monitors, 1 ASUS VG248qe running @ 144hz and another samsung 1080p monitor @ 60hz. I do eventually want to upgrade to a 34" 100hz monitor. I've been meaning to upgrade my gpu, I feel like it's lacking. I do plan on upgrading everything else in the future but for now I need a new graphics card.
Games I currently play are
CS:GO
Path of exile
Overwatch

I'm probably going to upgrade my SSD to a Samsung 850 EVO 500gb when I buy the gtx 1080.
My question is, with my current computer specs, will it bottleneck my gpu by much?

The 2600k at stock will almost certainly bottleneck the 1080ti on some games. Overclocked it should last a longer time. For your current monitor a 1080ti will be overkill, but for a 100hz 34" (3440x1440) it would probably be the right fit. I currently have a monitor like that and a 980ti and while it maintains 100fps most of the time in overwatch, sometimes it dips below that line. Rise of the Tomb Raider generally ran at around 60fps. A 1080ti should fix these "issues" :)

For those 3 games, I think a much lesser card can satisfy your requirements for 100hz...

Get a 1070 and save the cash for next generation perhaps?

Also, +1 on the post above. You may want to overclock a little.

Since when has a 1070 not been good enough for newer games at 1080p? Even newer games will easily break 60fps at 1080p with a 1070.

If the monitor upgrade is happening soon, 1080Ti is the way to go, if it's not going to happen for a year or more, spend half as much on a 1070 and get virtually the same gaming experience across your games, old and new.

1080 Ti ... cuz ... why not? You'll be much happier and the card will last much longer through newer games. I have a GTX 1080 and game at 1080p with G-Sync (and 144 Hz is just amazing compared to my last monitor) and I'm enjoying the overkill frames per second on maxed out settings. Current GPUs can't run 4K at the frame rates I want maxed out yet, so I'll probably wait for next year's cards to upgrade.

For reference you can check my sig, I have pretty much the exact same system as you do.

1) I would use the automatic overclock feature on the MB. It should boost you to around 4.6Ghz.
2) I would definitely upgrade the GPU. You didn't mention the resolution of the new monitor you are looking to upgrade to. If its going to be a 1080p, the 1080ti will be overkill. Hell you could probably get a GTX1050Ti and it would be a vast improvement and work great for you. If you are going from 1080i to 1440, I would say a 1070 would do the job nicely. If you are going to 4k, then you are going to want the 1080Ti.
3) I would also upgrade the SSD to a higher capacity EVO (I have a 256GB OCZ Agility 3, the Samsung 840 and 850 Pros I have are much faster).
4) Unless you want NVMe drives or USB-C, I would say it's not worth the money to upgrade the rest of your system. Right now I play all the latest games on the absolute highest settings at 4k and get decent framerates. I can get MP competitive framerates if I drop a few settings down. The CPU is not really a factor at all at this point.

I have a 3440x1440p monitor - one 1070 is not fast enough if you want reasonably high settings unless 30fps gaming is ok with you. Hence the second 1070 for SLI in my case.

For 3440x1440p and if you want the best for a flexible (multiple different games) then 1080Ti.

As for the I7 6700K -> OC that bitch! come on -> You would be just fine at 3440x1440p with that cpu (especially if OC).

If the games listed is the only games you are ever going to play for the rest of your life - 1080 for the 3440-1440p but I actually think that would be a waste of money since the 1080Ti is way more powerful.

Regular 1080 at around $480 is a better buy IMO than a 1070, and should be plenty for those games even at Ultrawide 1440. My kids PC has GTX 780 and it runs Overwatch max settings at 75 HZ, 2560x1080 no sweat. Gtx 1080 is close to 2.5x faster than a 780.

1080 is a good buy if you can get one at the price-drop price. Some places are still selling them for too much.

I would agree with the 1080 as a recommendation. Unless you plan to upgrade your monitors right away, buying a 1080 TI right now for $700-800 doesn't make sense. New hardware comes out all the time and by the time you upgrade the monitors it might have fallen significantly. Plus, the 1080 sucks at mining crypto so the price inflation is the least of all the cards. I was recently able to snag a 1080 new for $370 on eBay (after 10% eBay bucks etc etc.).

That said, if you do want to try to get some of your money back by mining, a 1070 would be a good choice. More than powerful enough for your monitors at 1080p and great for mining as well at about half the price of a 1080 TI.

Edit: A 1070 can do 72 fps average with 69 min at 4K at Overwatch for example. (http://www.techspot.com/review/1182-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070/page2.html) So unless you plan on playing more challenging games it should work for almost any monitor you choose. The 1080 recommendation would do a comfortable 90 fps.

Dudes, the original poster is one-and-done. You can stop wasting your time bumping this thread that was abandoned back in March.

He's not going to reply.
