well my mom wants me to do an advertisement for her business but she's not about to dish out $500 for 3dsmax. any good recommendations for free or cheap?:)

Does it actually have to be in 3D? You could always type up your 3D graphics using Pov-RAY.

Maya allows you to have a copy of their Learning Edition free, but it's not for commercial purposes.

edit: found one, I think.

The Maya Personal Learning Edition would not work anyway as it puts a watermark on all of your images. At least the last time I tried it out it did.

I've never used this, but I heard of a program called MilkShape 3D. It's free and supposedly is decent for a free program. You can find more information about it here

actually i used to use milkshape for the sims its not free the trial is free.

Well you can play with OpenFX, but it may not be the best program to use, although I think the license (GPL) allows for what you are asking. It hasn't been updated in nearly two years, but it still runs solidly for me though, but I'm moving over to Blender, and I'll add that I have to completly relearn everything... It isn't really a bad program, but I guess is very different...
