Need a 10+ port router.

Hello, I am in the market for a router, I am looking to hook up at least 10 machines. Any suggestions out there? This will be used in conjunction with road runner and will be primarily used for file transfer and the occasional gaming.

The cheaper the better ;), but I know you get what you pay for so even if it's high shoot.
 
why don't you get a standard 4 port router and then a 16 port switch uplinked to it.

Since the only 16port router i found was at a minimum $375 ish.

And you should be able to get a normal soho router and 16 port switch for under $60.

I will look into that, I am a tard when it comes to networking so please forgive me :p.
 
Large file transfers gets a relatively big boost from gigabit. Gigabit can be fairly cheap, though not as cheap as 10/100 of course. So, trying to go gigabit:

8-port GbE switch - D-Link DGS-2208 $43 AR

Various 8 and more port GbE switches, one as low as $25 AR:

16-port GbE switch - Netgear GS116 $140 AR

8-port GbE switch can be combined with 4 10/100 ports on router, giving 3 10/100 ports on router + 7 GbE ports on switch = 10 available ports.

D-Link DGL-4300 is a good router with 4 GbE ports, but is relatively expensive (typical $100-$120).

That is still cheap for the new Gigabyte routers
 
Even cheaper setup would be a 1 port router with a 12-16port switch.

Potent...but pricey..I agree...get a good performing home grade router like the DLink 4000 series..and snag a 16 port switch...uplink it to the router.

Yep, exactly what I was going to suggest. Here at work I have the same thing working successfully, but with about 5 switches chained off the router instead of 1.

nice work on paint, i suck with paint, but i am master with visvo and packet tracer :p
