My vmfs volume fails to mount due to being detected as a snapshot?

Home lab with 2 vsphere 6.0 hosts. Primary datastore is a 1TB iSCSI LUN served up from a ZFS on Linux appliance. Works just fine. It seems though, any time I end up having to reboot, both hosts fails to mount the datastore, due to " Device eui.6666376632356635:1 detected to be a snapshot". I've never done anything I'm aware of to cause this. google shows a bunch of blog entries as well as vmware KBs on how to mount a snapshot volume, but I've not found anything that explains *why* this is happening. It's trivial to fix, but a real bummer, since if anything takes down a host (like the power failure I just had a home), none of the VMs come back up without intervention :( Any hints most appreciated...

Do you have snapshots configured on the ZFS appliance and exposed to the iSCSI initiators?

Sometimes snapshot volumes cannot be mounted due to disk signature collision. Not sure if that is what's happening here, but it's possible.
