my pc restarts, mystery ???

My pc will sometimes restart on its own when going to open the cd drive, this has happened to me 2 times and once to a friend when he tried to open the cd drive. Its not that we even touch the cd drive button, we are like just about to and the pc just restarts. I have no idea wth is going on, its a mystery to the both of us, and maybe a mystery for ever. The only thing i can possibly think of is that its static, i have a rug in my room and on my way to my room. The button to open the drive is made of plastic though.

YIKES! How about cracking open the box and completely disconnecting and unmount the CD-ROM. Then put it all back together... Couldn't hurt to try that.

yes it could be...or your components are drawing so much power whenever you do use the cd rom its drawing too much resources from the other vital components of the system

you should check your event viewer log to see if there are system errors...this is a great tool and should be used more often
