I just got finished doing an out of the box comparison of my EVGA GTX FTW model vs my Galaxy GTX570. now the EVGA card is oced a bit from the factory and the Galaxy GTX570 is stock. I ran the GTX570 at stock speeds anyway for 99% of the time I owned it so I want to see how the EVGA GTX670 directly compared. all of the following benchmarks were done IN GAME and represent real GAMEPLAY. all tests were done at 1920x1080.

EDIT: its about a 43% improvement overall if we leave out the one anomaly at the end.

ok I saved the one anomaly for last. I have no idea what is going on here in Clear Sky as my gpu was ramping up fine so it must be a driver issue. it seems odd that on full max settings it was faster than GTX570 but on reduced settings it was slower than the GTX570.

Clear Sky with max expect sun quality, sun rays and SSAO lowered to medium but still 4x AA

GTX570
Min, Max, Avg
30, 60, 43.405

GTX670
Min, Max, Avg
22, 46, 31.576 (WTF?)

EDIT:

after a forced reboot from a blue screen during testing of Clear Sky the game now runs like it should so go figure.

Nice improvement. That's what I like to see each generation.

well except for Clear Sky which actually went backwards. I am going to head over to the Nvidia forums to report that little issue so maybe a different driver can help.

also remember too that this card is basically even with a gtx680 so a reference clocked gtx670 would probably be about 8-10% slower.

Those are some good numbers. I bought a reference model EVGA card, but I'm definitely OCing it. I've seen that in some games the 670 can pass the 680 when the core is over 1000MHz

take that over to the official nv forums, they like that kind of report

yeah I started a thread over there earlier.

whats odd is I just started up the game again to make a video of the exact settings and area I was using and it was way faster.

Min, Max, Avg
61, 114, 79.311

now that's 81% faster than the gtx570 but I really cant figure out why it works now. I tried multiple times earlier and averaged about 32 fps every time.

EDIT: grr now its back to averaging 31-32 again. I have to get to the bottom of this. :D

EDIT 2: I was able to get it to do it again but how it works is insane. I have to start up the game and go to settings, start recording video with fraps of my settings, and then load game save after that and I get normal fps. yes I know that sounds illogical but it takes those exact steps for some reason. but to makes things worse...I just got a blue screen while playing Clear Sky. I think it is some conflict with Precision or FRAPs and just doing something random can make it work, not work or even crash. there are zero issues with any other game.

EDIT 3: yeah I think it was some type of driver conflict with Precision or FRAPS. after a forced reboot from the blue screen Clear Sky runs like it should again.
