My DVD-ROMs have disappeared??!?!

I boot up and the bios recognizes the 2 drives....I get into Windows XP and they are basically gone. I go into the system devices and they are both listed as installed and working. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling...no good. Neither reads a disc when I put one in. I was burning a cd before and it stopped half way through with some error. I rebooted and the problem began. Any help would be greatly appreciated...this could easily be the oddest problem I have ever had.

1)Reinstall chipset drivers and try

2)Uninstall the IDE channels from Device Manager, reboot and let Windows redetect it.
