Hey all I bought a 3.0TB usb3 WD essential external drive, I took out the 3TB drive,and put it in my desktop case
but I want to reuse the WD essential case with my older 1.5TB for portable media transfer
the issue is that when I install the smaller drive (its a WD green 1.5TB), the drive connects to the PC, yet I cant see the drive. The essential case unit turns on and off, almost as if the formatting is wrong or something. The "usb new device" sound on the desktops goes on and off...
There must be some driver/format/software system on the onboard external small board inside the case, since the 3TB drive shows up immediately with no GPT formatting, when it was connected inside the essential case.
I have the latest WD drivers installed, but I cant figure out how to format the WD 1.5TB (MBR? or GPT? ??), such that the WD essential case/controller chip/board can properly see the smaller drive?
