Where did you hear that the WZ model has a blank signal problem or red saturation on VGA?
Well, I'm getting ready to call BenQ again to find out what type panel this thing has. I have the new panel number, M240UWO1 V2 for the new A-MVA panel. And I have a screw driver. I think I'll threaten to go in if they don't tell me.
According to TFT Central its:

PS: how is the backlight (and bleed) on an all black screen? Is it uniform?
Doesn't it have to be really dark in the room to be able to see? It is really light in this room right now. I tried it, it looks like the monitor is off, I'll have to wait until it gets dark. I think?

Never said the WZ has those problems. I said those problems are huge deterrants for me. So if in time, those problems do show up on the WZ, I will not probably not buy it unless nothing better comes out. Give your monitor a month or two, Higgy, and let us know if you experience the blank signal problem or anything else.
They also have a new 24 inch A-MVA panel as well, which was rumored to be in the FP241WZ -- this is what's causing all the confusion.

There is the proof, the FP241W uses the M240UW01 V0 which is a P-MVA panel, and the FP241WZ uses the M240UW01 V2 panel which is indeed AUO's new A-MVA panel:

Both panels seem to be essentially the same, but the WZ has some tweaks which allows it to do BFI.

It looks pretty good. It looks even, no lighter spots. I don't see any place where the level is adjustable.

"Perfect Motion" is really cool. I used some recorded HDTV Trailers from Test TVChannels and DVDs in PAL. On level 3 of Perfect motion you see fewer streaks, particularly of movie credits. The display is darker with light flickers, on Windows Desktop the function is deactivated.

It seems to me the "Z" model is the one to get if it is essentially the same panel with the ability to turn on/off or adjust the BFI feature. Plus it looks like on some online stores the Z model is actually cheaper than the non "Z" model.
What's keeping me from pulling the trigger is that I keep seeing something about a "flicker" effect with BFI turned on....what does everyone mean by this?
I think its inherent with the way it works, its effectively inserting a black frame in between each real frame of video to mask the motion blur. What I would like to know is how noticable it is when playing movies or games.
I suspect each person will notice it a bit differently depending on how sensitive each persons eyes are. I am a little worried because I can see standard CRTs refreshing below about 72hz with my naked eye when lots of people don't even notice 60hz on CRTs flickering!
Still with the Z version at least it can be switched off if its really noticable to me. The only thing stopping me buying the WZ right now is the fact my GFX card and my current Viewsonic VX910 dont seem to like playing in DVI mode anymore, so until I can check my GFX card in another DVI monitor I will have to wait. Patiently....

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered one. If anyone is interested, you can order from Tiger Direct (yea, I know they are not the greatest) through Amazon.com. Comes out to be around $800 shipped. If anything goes wrong and Tiger Direct is not very accomodating, I have CC company for that.

What panel is used in the Dell 2407WFP as this is the only other monitor I would consider over the BenQ WZ.
I have had conflicting reports with some people saying side by side the Dell is better and some saying the BenQ is better. Hmmmm
Er, the FP241W uses AUO's P-MVA panel -- this has been well known for a while. The new A-MVA panel wasn't even announced until after the FP241W was available. Did your guy explicitly say that they were switching the panel in new FP241W's over to the A-MVA, or was he claiming that it's always been available with the A-MVA panel. If it's the latter, your guy seems to be confused.
Well, he just repeated to me whatt the HQ told him. But yes he is very confused because the first time he came back to me (previous message) , he told me that FP241WZ was using a PVA panel from AUO which does not exist.

I am using the default settings from the factory in standard. Brightness 90, contrast 50, sharpness 3. Didn't you get an error message when you inserted the driver CD? Mine has a part number near the center of the disk, 5B.L2R01.012 There is a pivot tool on the disk but I didn't try it. Did you get the auto adjustment utility off of the disk?

You probably won't want a static background having Vista Ultimate. How about some new Dreamscenes? Way down on this page http://microsoft.blognewschannel.com/ there are two groups of them. But you'll have to download this http://www.stardock.com/products/deskscapes/downloads.asp to run them.
