Well here it is my 2200 dollar build.
I wanted to wait till november to build it but due to extinating circumstances I was forced to build it now. I've allready ordered the parts but one can never have enough critique when building a new computer. All thoughts good are bad are welcome.

Wouldn't choose that PSU. If you want a similarly rated supply look at the Thermaltake Toughpower line, PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 Quad Black, or something from Silverstone, Enermax, or Etasis.

...wait. You already ordered? Nevermind. Hope it all works out well for you. Could've saved some money here and there, probably paid a little too much for the GTX and your motherboard is crazy expensive, but good parts at least.

should have gotten the 500gb maxtors rather then open box seagates, almost $40 there.

I've setup similar systems for $1600

I'm too lazy to figure out where you're wasting money though... :(

I thought retail seagate 500's are $120 right now...

I thought retail seagate 500's are $120 right now...

He bought the ES version... its supposedly better quality than the standard 7200.10 drives, but he bought them open box.

I agree with silent-circuit on the PSU... there are much better choices, even for that price. I hope that thing doesnt take out $2200 worth of parts, lol.

I also agree that you could have saved a lot of money, but ahh well, you already bought it all... so enjoy!

I did buy the ES versions of the drive and got them open box, they still come with the full manufactuar warranty. supposedly the ES versions of the drive is supposed to be faster than the regualr 7200.10 because of the native command queing. I went with the Kingwin because I had previous experience with that paticular powersupply. The caps and quality of the build seemed first class and it has a nice astetic appearance as well. Although I cant vouch for if it would stand up to the hardocp test. It is diffently a high class powersupply. It is one of the only few modular powersupplys I have seen that is modular but does not use the usual snap in cables. You actually screw in the modular cables strait into the power supply rather than snap. Has anyone seen a review on the Kingwin 700 Mach power supplys? Thank all of you for your posts keep em comming. I look foward to each and every one of them.

I hope you're right about that psu. I havent seen any reviews on it, though kingwin is on the list of PSUs to avoid from the Power Supply Subforum. However, that list is a bit old, so they may have improved since then.

With modular PSU, I don't see how screwing the modular cables in would be any better than snapping them in... there's still added resistance from the modular connection, no?

Definitely wouldn't have gone with that PSU, 155 bucks for a kingwin? Don't understand the E6850 choice, the Q6600 is a much better value and when you run it at the same FSB as the 6850 they're both at 3.0 with 2 extra cores. The mb is overpriced, I would have gone with the DSR for 100 less. Motherboard comes with all your cables, so I wouldn't have bought them. If I was spending 550 on a GTX, I would have sprung the extra 50 for the Ultra and used it's stock hsf instead of spending another 55 on a VGA cooler. Also, why the floppy and 4 gig usb stick? Other then that, looks good.

Agree on the PSU and the overpriced motherboard. A DS3R would have served you just as well, especially since you aren't going Crossfire.

It's unclear as to whether or not your video card and processor choices will serve you well w/o knowing what monitor you plan to pair this rig with, and what you'll use the PC for besides (assuming) gaming.

The quad does have more future headroom, but has less OC headroom than the 6850. A 4ghz 6850 will outperform a 3.4-3.6ghz Q6600 in most of today's games, but not in other CPU intensive tasks such as video encoding, image processing, CAD work, or software development, to name a few.

Also, no need to buy extra cables. The retail motherboard comes with everything you need.

Mark.

I think the kingwin deservses a chance to be put to the test by hardocp. The new Mach1 series of power supplies is pretty decent. Especially with the way they do the modular plugins. To answer someones question, the jump drive is for readyboost. and the 90 degree cables are so they dont get caught in the door the way the case is designed. I dont like bending the regualr cables because they come out easier. I went with the 6850 because I want to overclock it for gaming hince the Ultra 120 Extreme. I might have wasted money on the HR-03 but I just like the thought of a big chunk of metal straped to a video card. I hope that by going with the p35 chipset instead of the nvidia chipset that I will end up with a more stable overclocked system. I also plan to only use one video card for the time that I own this computer so going with the 680i seemed pointless. I hope to post some pics on the forum once I get this all together. BTW I did some reserch and found 2 reviews on the 800 watt version of the power supply. Both of them were perfect scores. ClubOC was amoung one of the sites. I do reiterate though, I would LOVE to see how this power supply stacks up under the hardocp torture test simply because I believe this power supply to be a monster.
