I also bought the One S for Blu-ray, and wanted the Series X for the same thing and my library of disc games. The Series S is borderline useless to me, and underpowered IMO.
 
I have seen quite a few people on HWS selling these for $300 unopened. I wonder if there is something we've missed or if they're just desperate

Yep. Six months at $50 each and you get the Xbox series x + 200 Amazon gc. It's a money maker even if you don't use the Verizon 5g but just pay for it.
