Someone explain to me why the prices on this site are so much cheaper than everywhere else? Are these refurbished, overstocked, what?

CDW= Computer Discount Warehouse. They mostly do large-scale government and business-to-business procurement, I think the cheap one-off items on the site are mostly overstock?

Yea I could have googled this which I just did, instead I got lazy and asked impulsively, now I understand. On a different note when I type on the search, "MSI RTX 2080 Ti" it doesn't show up in the results. Am I missing something here or not looking in the right place?

Click the arrow o nthe left of the search bar, and select CDW Outlet Catalog, before your search.

Generally open box, but could be closeout, clearance, or even bnib. Basically inventory that CDW would like to move.

The outlet items in my experience are about 50/50 unopened returns or open box returns. I've also gotten items bnib, so it varies. But this isn't Best Buy or Microcenter so it's not consumers buying stuff but usually professional companies with IT departments, so returns are usually top notch with everything there. Oh, and I forgot to add that all items are considered brand new in terms of manufacturer's warranty as well as have a 45-day return policy with CDW.

Things can be overstock or open box I think.

So what you're missing is that outlet items are typically just one item per cdw part number. And since the link in the OP is showing out of stock, that means it's long gone. And checking for any other msi items, there's not another 2080Ti atm:
https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=msi&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc

But worry not as there's always new stuff in the outlet and this search if you watch it will list all the 2080s:
https://www.cdw.com/search/?key=2080&outlet=1&searchscope=all&sr=1&SortBy=PriceAsc

I forgot to add that outlet items continue to drop in price every week or so until they hit between 50-90% of the going price. Then they just disappear from the outlet as they are pulled out of the warehouse and put onto a pallet to be auctioned as liquidation.

This is the link I usually check for video card deals that covers all manufacturers and all cards:
https://www.cdw.com/search/computer...pe=all&sr=1&sortby=priceasc&maxrecords=72&w=a

SamirD's link is showing add to cart. Not sure if its the same exact card or not but this is also posted on buildapcsales which is full of savages grabbing every deal by the hundreds so I would jump now.

It's still a dead deal--see how it says 1-3 days availability? For outlet items if it doesn't say 'in stock', it's not in stock, and even sometimes when it says in stock it's still not in stock. I usually call and confirm stock and then place the order. Otherwise, you'll wait up to a week for the order to be cancelled and then be utterly disappointed.

Nice deal especially if you get a new one. $970 shipped to CA, which is quite a bit saved over the current $1320 shipped via Amazon.

Hmm guess I'll wait for my cancelation email. I originally posted this and even checked slick deals and other places for this deal and no one else posted so then I posted here. Mine says backordered....

More than likely this was open box (probably for a business workstation that had a requirements change), but I expect it to be in almost new condition. Definitely a solid score from the outlet. (y)

Yep, it will for a few days. They're closed now until Monday, but you can always check with a phone call too.

After having this happen to me a few times, I only place the order on the phone after they've confirmed the inventory in hand. You can even ask if they can put their hands on it and check the box (but they can't open it).

This is a CDW Outlet item which represents a single unit and cannot be backordered.

FWIW, B stock cards. Good price, however.
But CDW b-stock is essentially open-box, return or clearance that could be bnib. I'm curious what condition it comes in. Hopefully the buyer will update this thread. :)

I have found that this is not necessarily true. It is true that it cannot be backordered. But I have seen where there are multiple of the same item on the same CDW item number. I actually purchased one of these myself and had posted another one on servethehome that people bought for a while. Best bet is to call and find out how many qty are available on the item number.

The return policy is sorta unclear to me on stuff like this. It says it depends on the manufacturer and a bunch of other strangeness... defective stuff has to be reported in 15 days. Restocking fees of "at least" 15%.

I get taking risk for a good deal but they are are unclear.

It sounds like a really strict and uncooperative return policy, but generally in my experience if you return it as new, or in the case of outlet the way you got it, you will get 100% money back except for shipping. I've had to do 2 returns lately, both outlet items, and haven't had any issues. They will ask why of course, and as long it's not some frivolous reason like 'just because', I don't think they'll charge. I've been doing business with them since the 1990s, and I don't think they treat me any different than any other customer.

Yeah, that's the problem about the outlet too--everything can see the deals! I've had 3 sets of drives sniped out from under me! But in the end I got even bigger drives at a better deal so I realize that sometimes it's destiny...:ROFLMAO:

Maybe I can shed some light on this GPU. I bought the exact GPU from Microcenter this past Sunday. I am coming from a MSI 1080 Ti Sea Hawk X. I had two EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Hybrid over the past several months (both purchased new from Amazon). The EVGA 2080ti's had a loud whining noise emitting from water pump on the GPU hence the reason for returning. Numerous owners have discussed this at length over at the EVGA forum.

Onto the MSI 2080Ti Gaming X Trio. Myself and other owners of this GPU are having issues with setting a fan curve. Per MSI support the fans on the GPU will not come on till the temperature of 70 degrees Celsius is obtained. The MSI was idling in the mid 50's Celsius. Both the EVGA 2080 Ti hybrids were in the high 20's Celsius along with my MSI 1080 Ti hybrid when idling. and in the mid to high 50's when under load while gaming . The issue with the MSI is I have no control over setting a set fan speed on MSI Afterburner. I set the fan speed and it quickly goes back to 0 speed. I can set a fan curve but it did the same thing, I hit activate and the fan speed starts but drops off back to 0 speed. Another owner found a work around, adjust the fan speed period in the fan section of Afterburner from 5000 ms to 100 ms and it forces the fan speed on the GPU to adjust. This works for about 3 minutes and drops back down to 0 speed for about 15 seconds and goes back to set fan curve speed for approximately 3 minutes. By doing this my current GPU temp is 27 degrees Celius wiht an ambient temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit in my room. With this forced fan curve I am able to game under load with a temperature in the low to mid 60 degree Celsius.

Speaking with MSI support they suggest sending the GPU (RMA) or return the GPU to Microcenter. I went with the MSI since my MSI 1080Ti Sea Hawk X has been rock solid and I felt it was time for an upgrade. With the MSI 2080Ti being sold at just under $1,200 with a 5% ($60) back from my credit card this seem like a no brainier.
