i just set up and i am running an a64 3000+ with the new msi k8n neo plat. board.
under PC Health it reads the following:
CPU TEMP: 73*C/158*F
SYSTEM TEMP: 48*C

albeit i am in a room that is approximately 82*F, and the cpu heatsink is only warm to the touch. i only put a thin layer of thermal cpu paste on the processor. Is this okay??

yeah the temp readings on the mobo is really off. mine was 69C idle and 80 sumthing load. so i just flashed the bios to a newest one. and it worked for me im now at 37C idle. if u want the bios u can just message me on Aim azngonenuts. and i'll send you the bios.

thermocouples have a fair degree of error, depending on the type and quality. it could also be a motherboard issue with reading the voltage from them. eitherway, if your CPU was really 70+, your heatsink should be hot to the touch. feel it and see,if you an touch it and hold your fingers on it without getting burnt then its probably a very false reading.

the case temp alone seems REALLY far off. what kind of cooling do you have in this case?
