I'm thinking about getting a dvd burner for a video restoring project i may be paid to do. The current write speeds seem awfuly low though. Is now a bad time to buy one? Will speeds increase fairly rapidly?

Also can someone explain the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? Just different types of media?

alright, i just read a bunch of info in the sticky on dvdr so i'm getting somewhat of a handle on things.

Anyways i'll just ask this: Are MSI dvd writers any good? What are some recomended writers? Is dvd+r 8x worth it?

MSI drives are made by Sanyo, they're pretty good.
Recommended : Pioneer A07,NECND2500A, Plextor 708A, Lite-On 811S. Oh, and +8R is definitely worth it!
