Has anyone seen, or have, a review for the MSI Z690 Edge Wifi DDR4 ?

Almost everything on the net is just board summary and description.

So far I have heard complaints about the screws being low quality and have a tendency to break and the sockets are delicate and break easily. Also, it does not come with the LAN driver installed which could be a pain. Other than that most reviews were positive. Amazon and Newegg type reviews. Have not seen a professional review yet.

I have this board. Installing windows 11 crapped out when setting up the network so I had to bring up a cmd prompt to bypass it. Once windows installed I could install the drivers from the included USB stick. However the board has been fine. No issues with it so far.

I've got a couple in the pipeline to be reviewed, but not that one. That doesn't mean I won't ever do it, but it's not going to be anytime soon.

Thanks. I wanted the ROG Strix Z690 Gaming Wifi D4 but it is not compatible with decent Air Coolers. Second choice was the Tuf Gaming Z690 Plus Wifi D4 but reviews really slammed the audio performance. Did not want Gigabyte due to the Realtek LAN chip so that left the two MSI boards. I ordered the edge last night. It has LED's that I don't need but it is rated 5 amps higher than the Tomahawk. I love Asus but they really missed the mark this year.

I wouldn't likely have caught the heat sink thing. The fact is, it seems most systems are built with AIO's and I've always reviewed boards with water cooling or with higher end AIO's at the very least. I did notice that the two ASUS boards I have seen did have massive VRM heat sinks, but air cooling issues hadn't dawnd on me. I haven't tested either of those boards though as I am still waiting DDR5 RAM.

The bad audio on the Tuf Gaming could have been a fluke. It was horrible frequency response, crosstalk and buzzing on the mic input. This seems to be more than just the codec. He should have requested a second board to make sure it was not a fluke. Could have used it with a sound card but that's more cost and power draw. Do you think MSI can be as reliable as Asus? I do have a friend with a Threadripper in a Fractal R6 case with a Noctua NH-D15 and it is cooling just fine. Real shame to put all this money into a new system and be stuck using DDR4. Thanks

Every single time I've experienced audio issues like that, its come down to that specific board being bad. Virtually ALL of these motherboards use the exact same design for their audio implementation. The CODEC chosen varies slightly and on the high end they may also include an ESS Sabre DAC or something for specific outputs but generally, they all use one of two or three Realtek CODECs.

Complaints about the sound card costing something if you went that route is a fair one. Power draw on them is negligible. As for MSI vs. ASUS, they can be. The problem is that MSI has been really bad on some of their lower end boards in terms of cost cutting. That said, even the X570-A Pro that was demonized by most reviewers for its inferno like VRM's wouldn't die on my bench and I made it a point to try and kill it. The complaints were still valid, but the board was excellent for me all the same. I've used everyone's boards and some of my favorites have been from MSI. I was using an MSI MEG X570 GODLIKE in my own machine and now its in my girlfriend's machine. It's been virtually problem free outside of one BIOS update that gave it a cold boot quirk that's now fixed.

I'm not sure on its current lineup, so I can't recommend any specifically.

I can only speak for the 2 boards I used but they ran both without issues, one is still in my dad's PC with a 4000 series i5 in it, has been stable since I built it. The other one had my 6700K in it, but I sold that one years ago.

After looking at various Z690 DDR4 boards to utilize my unused 32GB memory, I found this MSI board.
Was looking to get Asus Z690-A Strix DDR4, but was bit concerned with the heat sink issues.

Ended up buying this MSI, have not unboxed it yet lol ... looking for some objective feedback/reviews from folks.
My current setup has a 6+ year MSI Z87-G45 (i7-4790k) board which has thus far run flawlessly other than an occasional blue screen in Win10 due to some mouse driver issue.

Found this relatively new review, they're giving it a "Superb" rating ... reliable?
I wonder if other MSI Edge Z690 users share similar experiences. Thanks!

Here's some VRM based mention of MSI boards while comparing the lower end ones, but not the Edge ...

Look on youtube. There's a few motherboard comparison videos in which they are tested and feature benchmarks. I don't recall the Edge being included but I know the Tomahawk is in the bunch on some videos. I think it's somewhat similar (maybe less features; cheaper).

I recently got this board, seems to run fine so far, only issue if you can call it that is the RGB, for some reason I can't get it to display light orange.

Got a 12700K in it with 32 GB 3600 Corsair RAM.

Also the BIOS did not like it when I changed a lot at the same time but I got it where I want to now.

Been running this board for over a month now - zero issues! I actually liked it better than my last motherboard (ROG MAXIMUS XII), which I had a plague of issues (and eventually crapped out and stopped working).
